What a good idea! In fact, if enough of the fellows are willing and able, perhaps one evening we could each bring a bottle and have a ‘taste-off’. I’m sure Mathers could prepare rooms for the night and the funds would stand the appropriate waters and ice that some of the blends require.

I’m a straight up single malt man by preference, but it always pays to broaden the palate.

We do have some first class malts in the cellar, but they repay close appreciation. I believe some are earmarked for the next coronation.

. . . . . . . . . yes his behaviour as a teen was bad but it was behaviour resulting in his feelings about realising he had been abused – as he said, when it first started he didn’t like it but he didn’t realise it was wrong until he was older; his feelings of helplessness at the situation and the anger; his feelings of being let down by the people who should have protected him . . . . . . . .

This is incredibly common. The proportion of young miscreants who act out the consequences of abuse is said to be ridiculously high. I personally know a young man who started indecently assaulting young girls. When caught it was found that he had been lured into someone’s car and molested himself, not realising it was wrong on a conscious level, but troubled.

This is another reason why, despite our wish to maintain childhood innocence, we need to educate young children enough to know where the lines should be drawn.

The impact of abuse can run deep and last for a lifetime. Another reason why it needs to be dealt with even when historic.

Oh, relieves her of the port first . . . .

 i’ll be dead by then with no food or water atleast leave me the port i’ll be quite happy in the cupboard until then :D

Oh dear no! Our standards of hospitality are renowned amongst the cognoscenti. It’s a cupboard, not a cubbyhole, there’s space to lie down if we shift the founders’ armoire.

Mathers will ensure you get a decent breakfast, luncheon and supper at least. I hope this morning’s kippers were OK. We maintain naval tradition here, so you’ll get a full tot of rum every day. However we reserve the port for formal dinners.

Shouldn’t we be decorating this place for the annual Christmas shindig by now?

And can we please refrain from repeating the embarrassing shenaningans of last year when drunken Brother Scep simulated coitus with Brother Sgt’s Darts trophy?

I see my plea for the Club to give all its extra money to charity and keep the inside of the Club a Christmas free zone has fallen on deaf ears.

    :?

I’m not a big fan of the hairshirt approach to charitable giving myself. Let’s not pretend that we’re a bunch of paupers. Some of us like the festive cheer, and what would we tell the orphans when they come to sing carols and there’s no tree or presents?

However in the spirit of your suggestion, why not see if we can rustle up a tree and decorations and donate the value of the decorations if they were bought to charity. I’m sure I have a spare House of Lords bauble somewhere and there’s a pine at the end of the drive that looks a bit out of place . . . . . .

I’m having to run the video every time I attempt to go in the room, I usually don’t bother.

Don’t want to spoil his game rusty, but it’s obvious that Terry’s just enjoying winding people up. Trouble is, his ‘House’ icon identifies him with a clever character with a sense of irony, but great difficulty conveying a sense of his own fallibility.

Best play with him and pretend to be wound up or openly ridicule him – he’s better than a a ball on a string on a good day.
