So, is anyone actually planning to be at the meet?

. . . . . For make no mistake: sexism is alive and well in this country and applauded in all quarters — as long as it is practised by women. And they are allowed to say the most terrible, terrible things[/i]
Really?
If I, with no love of football and no real knowledge of the game had managed to find an assistant referee’s outfit and walked out onto that pitch, no comment would have been made about my gender.
If Andy Gray had played with himself in my direction and invited me to tuck his shirt in, a lot of blokes would have thought me quite entitled to offer to punch his lights out.
Average pay for women is still around 15-20% less than men in jobs of equal value, never mind the low paid jobs a lot of women are expected to do – I think given the likelihood of 25% more pay I might swallow my dignity and accept a few ‘dead’ jokes, but for 20% less and a continuing battle for professional recognition (“do me a favour, luv”) I might just whinge a lot!

. . . . . Actually words, when I spoke to my husband about this he made the same observation as you regarding Murdock, he added its easy to make a stand when the guy has no clout, they employed him they knew what he was like and they were happy for him to represent them. Says more about sky as an organisation that they only take action once he is outed publicly.
Teapot
And they kept him on. They’ve dismissed him at a time when he (allegedly) has questioned whether his phone has been tapped and when Sky is under major scrutiny about monopoly issues over the Murdoch clan’s juggling to keep it’s influence through broadcasting in the family.
Conspiracy theorists unite! We have nothing to lose but it’s more fun than chillaxing.

not a chance
if you cant get by in this country
you prob wont any where else
love to travel
but love to come home tooToo right Thin. This is the best country in the world to live in. For every factor that makes us complain there is another that’s worth staying for whether pragmatic or romantic. I’ve seen a lot of people leave and return after a few weeks or leave and then commute for health or educational reasons.
27 January, 2011 at 8:49 am #460299It appears that Gray suggesting that the official didn’t know the offside rule (a common sexist stereotype and more of an insult to the people (men?) who trained and selected her) and then ridiculing Karen Brady’s claim about sexism in football was not enough to lose Andy Gray his job.
I care little for football and find the commentators off-putting. But every time I see Andy Gray I am more likely to see him as a pathetic figure with his hands down his trousers than as yet another patronising bore who still can’t get used to the idea that his mother/sister/wife/teacher/nurse might know a thing or two (I thought I’d stick to roles women play that might not freak his supporters out).
So far I have not seen one comment or action attributed to the assistant referee in question. She most certainly didn’t get Andy Gray the sack. Whether he was sacked for being caught as someone who can’t cope with anything that’s happened since Boudicca ruled the Iceni, or for taking on the Sky hierarchy regarding phone tapping allegations, it had nothing to do with her actions.
Of course it’s easier to blame someone who simply applied and trained for a job than to take on Murdoch. Even presidents and prime ministers have to ok their decisions with him. But it’s a shame that once again the people who made the decision escape censure if the decision was wrong.
Personally I hail her dignity and focus. She deserves credit for not getting Max Clifford involved. If she did, I wouldn’t blame her. If this episode blights her career just as she starts to fulfil her promise, then using the media to pull in some compensatory cash would be understandable, if unwise.

Why cant you still have it? :-k
I agree.
I do hope everything’s ok with JADEY and I am always grateful that someone is prepared to put their head above the parapet and get meets and that organised.
The recent London meets have basically consisted of meeting up at one or two pubs, drinking eating and chatting – Meals at Wetherspoons which saves a small fortune in London.
So if anyone’s still interested, I will definitely be at the Garrick on Saturday between 2 and 3pm for a leisurely pint and will definitely be in the The Montague Pike (Wetherspoons) in Charing Cross Road from between 5 and 6pm for a cheap bite to eat.
Both pubs are in Charing Cross Road, the Garrick opposite Leicester Square and the Wetherspoons is further up past Cambridge Circus on the left before you get to Tottenham Court Road.
I will sit as close as possible to the places we had at the last West End meet, so in the Garrick I will try to get a seat in the far corner by the bar if I can. In the Wetherspoons I’ll go through into the far end under the big screen. If no one turns up I’ll have a book in my pocket and I will be very happy to wander certain select shops and enjoy anything going on in Leicester/Trafalgar Square. But if you’re there we can have a good laugh and decide whether to to do anything else depending on numbers and Inclination. I’ll try to do some research on what’s on that day/evening.
Please tell anyone in the room who expresses an interest. Let me know if you would like my number for directions or emergencies. See you there!

And now having seen her pic for the first time, I think there’s some sexual tension between me and Sarah 30 too!
In a pure and innocent way of course . . . . . . . .
