She’s not fighting me. And I’ve not been in her position so I won’t judge. Annette wouldn’t be the first person to find a way of which others disapprove to cope with something in her life for which she never signed up.

I’m confident there’s more to her than this and that others only escape censure because they haven’t told us what they get up to, or because they continue to deny even when what’s happening is common knowledge. But that’s their business.

Best keep these things private. A lot of people say they value honesty, but then pick something to condemn out from what they learn.

I was referring to the power held by the guides and hosts – considering that people they ban seem to be able to get round the bans fairly easily and quickly. I am sure that F3 would be better without bickering and bullying: there is a whole world to discuss and thousands of lives within the influence of F3 chatters. There will always be something else to chat about that would be equally interesting.

I don’t think banning any one group of people will help as others are always willing to fill the vacated chat space with abuse and vitriol.

I’m not that happy about having two from one “team” banned none from the other. In this particular conflict no “team” comes out any better than the other. The banned chatter can still chat if they use various tricks. But there are more vindictive and profligate bullies who seem to escape sanction, or maybe they just use similar tricks to get round them.

According to the chatguide who is reputed to have enacted the bans, Martin has said he will support the guides and hosts to manage the rooms as they see fit. If that’s what he said, then “with great power comes great responsibility”. Of course it remains to be seen how much power is actually held.

The word I used was “insulted” not “upset”. The six titles you bestowed on the “red team” and “blue team” members were hardly compliments.

I don’t doubt your belief that the terms are true, but something truthful can still be hurtful and upsetting, especially if used in a hurtful context. “Nut Job”, for example is not a technical term, nor is it specific enough to identify any specific mental or emotional condition. I find it hard to believe that its use here was meant in any positive way whatsoever.

Whether the people concerned are upset will depend on the extent to which they identify with the insults and the degree to which they find your use of them meaningful. I don’t even pretend to speak on their behalf but I am entitled to dislike the terms used and the implied aggression in the context.

By the way, why two opportunities to vote for banning the red team, but only one for the banning of the blue team?
