No, sorry, I really don’t want to get embroiled in this unpleasant rubbish.
I really don’t like Bessie’s personal attacks, any more than i like Gerry’s personal attacks. They’re both based on imagined clouds of poison which have nothing to do with the people they’re attacking, but to try to pierce those clouds is just to invite more nasty…[Read more]

I have nothing to do with the odd banter going on here.
The personal gossip and lies are genuinely bizarre..
I don’t like Bessies’ personal attacks on people, and I don’t like her characterisation of the average brexiteer
but she makes some very good points here, and quite passionately.
For all the crocodile tears by the No Dealers about…[Read more]

ghost of morg and Gerry seem to have one thing in common
they specialise in making everything personal.
The brexiteers don’t have any argument. So it’s got to be personal. I’m a wife beater, or a very very very evil man.
I’ve met a couple of people I would regard as genuinely evil, and I’m afraid that they did a lot more than attacking Trump…[Read more]

Ge, I think that if you’re serious about describing your opponents as very, very, very evil, then you are a genuine fanatic – a real nutter.
When I was young, I worked with the Gay Liberation Front against the Christian fundamentalists in the area. It was quite dangerous some times because these fundies were convinced that we were the agents of…[Read more]

I remember them interviewing some guy in Derby with his wife. the wife sat there very obediently, her handbag on her lap, as he went on and on in a loud voice. let’s gerrout, gerrout now, no faffin’ around, no ifs. no buts, just gerrout, just gerrout!
The woman sat obediently, a calm smile on her face, looking at him quietly.
After quite a while…[Read more]

I am loving what you say on the 1939 thread,
but here I have to side with Somer

Awww. I was hoping that the adjective would have grown in number.
Very, very, very, very evil
Go on, you know you want to.

Well, Linda, your point is well taken but
the USA is in a very different situation.
It isn’t just a stronger economy than ours.
It a much, much more powerful economy than ours, and the political power of the USA corresponds to that economic power.
If the UK isn’t part of a powerful economic trading bloc, like the EU,
then it’s going to be…[Read more]

Yes, we Remoaners are very, very evil people.
but I still for the life of me can’t see any benefits and a lot of harm in leaving, especially in a no-deal Brexit.
I see from today’s news that some local councils are considering ending school meals because food prices are going to get rather high after no-deal.
What in Hell are we doing???

Lost on me, Bessie.
He says there are no arguments ever presented for remaining within the EU, so I present some.
He says that it’s economically illiterate to claim that Britain’s economy has been damaged by Brexit, so I start to show some figures to show that Brexit is damaging us even before it takes place.
And I get insults!!
He’s afraid to…[Read more]

Britain, the fastest growing economy in the G7 before the referendum, has lagged behind the Eurozone ever since the referendum, partly because of the steep drop in the pound’s value in the hours after the referendum result. In the second quarter of 2019 it actually fell for the first time in seven years.
No Deal will have a depressing effect on…[Read more]

When you burn your house down in the hope that there’s going to be a lovely dream house on the hill which is going to land in your virtuous lap, do you tell the people living in the house to have faith in their wonderful selves?
What madness is that?

You don’t burn down the house…[Read more]

This is new.
Three years ago, people wanted that leaving the EU would end in a serious decline in living standards. Some – George Osborne, if anyone remembers him – said there would be a catastrophe, but that was part of the lying hype whihc characterised that evil referendum campaign.
The economy has worsened since the referendum, and we…[Read more]

Not old garbage at all.
3 years ago people did not vote for a disorderly brexit.
Nobody is saying that the whole country will grind to a total halt,
but they are saying that in the immediate sense there will be disruption and a shock to the economy, at a time when the world economy is precarious. Even teh free market extremists who support…[Read more]

The backstop is a result of the Good Friday agreement.
think about it?
When the UK leaves, there will be a border between the UK and the Irish Republic.
Good Friday was about making that border redundant. Leaving the EU without some sort of arrangement like the backstop (or an alternative arrangement, such as proposed by Labour) is breaking the…[Read more]
