All i can say is that you read the original question again mafia. I think you’ll find it states ..”WHEN WILL THEY NEXT FORM A STRAIGHT LINE WITH THEM SELVES AND THE EARTH?” The puzzle was written word for word straight out the book, i guessed 27 before i looked up the answer and then had to draw a diagram to prove i was thinking along the same lines as the book. It’s an I.Q quiz. I don’t go into space to check it out. I just use a pen and paper. Let’s just agree to disagree and move on.
The straight line is mentioned but the question is using the earth as the epicentre of the whole topic . If you said ” when is the next solar eclipse ” we would all answer when it was visible from earth not neptune or wherever. From earth it would take 4 and a half years for the satellites to form a straight line. The question you got from the quiz book which you inferred was yours should state ” From a view away from earth as the epicentre when could you draw a line through all 3 celestial bodies” but it reads “When will they next form a straight line with them selves and the earth?” If you are using the earth as the focus of the question then the correct answer is as I stated 4 years 6 months.

Your question was ” when would the satellites be lined up from the earth ” .. in your drawing they are at different sides of the hemisphere . They would only be lined up from the earth when one passed another again which is 4 .5 years… no one viewing those satellites from earth would see that as being ” lined up”
Why not phrase your question properly ” When will the satellites be directly opposite each other” which isn’t what you asked at all in the thread thats been deleted. You say “the answer you got was 27 ” yet you already know the answer as you are quoting it from a book. My answer to the question you originally asked was correct .. there was no mention of any “straight line” .

Who said anything about you closing your account , I was addressing cider lad, can’t you read? He has done plenty wrong , he’s uneducated and just chirping in not having a clue . Your answer is wrong but at least you have attempted to explain it … poorly but an effort at least.

How about this Mr living with his parents in his 30s .. if your answer of 27 is correct and mine is wrong I’ll close my account on here. If you’re wrong you close yours instead of chirping in with nonsense as an uneducated muppet living with his dad crying about not pruning his flowers? Lets have a bet on it .. you have no money strongbow so the account status should be enough of stake.
