Thank you for sharing. Well done for looking out for your neighbour at a time when many would have simply been looking out for themselves. I cannot begin to imagine what it would have felt like to be caught up in the middle of that, and fortunately most of us will never experience it.

Thanks. Even now, I get jumpy when I hear a loud noise outside, sirens in the distance, shouting from down the road. I’m sure it’ll pass but the downside to that is, of course, complacency slipping back in…

Well, since Gaz has nothing to do, as he has said, why don’t we send him out on the streets – hmmmmm, bit of a dilemma, how is he gonna pay to get to all the places that have been rioted?!!!! Also, do ya think we would recognise him from a news broadcast?! possibly!!

He’d be the one leaning on the broom doing nothing and criticising the others for pandering to ‘The Man’.

    Now here’s a moral question.
Your teenager is out for the evening and a riot breaks out not far from you. Desperately you try to contact them to make sure they’re ok. Finally you do, and they tell you they’re ok but they’re going to stay at their mates’ house tonight and they’ll be home in the morning. You go to bed relieved that they are safe. The following morning they come home with a rucksack full of electrical equipment, jewellery, clothes. You ask them where it came from and they grunt and say “it’s no big deal, I didn’t damage anything, it was just lying there, everyone was helping themselves so I did too. Don’t stress.”
    What do you do?

Firstly, I would warn them that if they got caught up in the looting I would have NO hesitation in shopping them in.

If that doesn’t work, and I found they HAD been looting, my next action would be to drag them to the police station with the stolen goods, or calling the police myself.

I have shopped friends for breaking the law and would do it to my family too.

Shocking footage of the Croydon Riots:

But the clean up carries on. London is stronger than the looters. Over 1000 arrested thus far. 8)

Now THIS is how you stop a looter…

I shan’t engage in debate with Gazlan, as he’s not worth the time. His paranoid rants would be offensive if they weren’t so laughable. Once he’s employed I might engage with him again. There’s more chance of seeing Elvis giving the Pope a hand-job, mind.

Hands up to everyone that got caught up in the riots and who very nearly lost his house and all his belongings.

    *raises hand*

Now, I was amongst those rioters on Monday night. They were not all black/white/asian/rich/poor/bored/thrillseeking. They can not be generalised. Except as SCUM.

They complain that they want a voice. F*cking EARN that voice. Mrs T’s earlier post nailed it. You want opportunities? GO AND GET THEM. You get nothing by sitting on your ârse day in day out wishing that you could be plucked out of nowhere into your dream job.

That’s what kids need to be taught from day one. You can only go as far as you can be bothered to go.
