It’s shocking! We should all get British holidays all to be taken at the same time regardless. Them Scots want it all. (btw I think I have used the word ‘all’ too much here) Anyway, I think holidays should be scrapped, it just encourages people to laze around or spend money. Hard work and thrift is the way to hapiness. :D

    You’re welcome :)

However, it looks like you have been usurped by a lesser thread!

My only criticism would be that you missed out Northern Ireland.

A question for you Ms Squeezy…..What have you learned from this experience? It appears to me that the Scots are more patriotic than the English, who seem to prefer to be known as British. Is this an damning indictment of the English predicament these days? Trying to appease others by encompassing all and sundry. Have the English lost their identity? Morris Men seem to be on the wane, what next…..croquet?

    Scotland

A constituent country of the United Kingdom comprising the northern part of the island of Great Britain as well as the Hebrides, Shetland Islands, and Orkney Islands. Inhabited by Picts in prehistoric times, the region was invaded but never conquered by the Romans and split into a variety of small kingdoms after the fifth century A.D. In the ninth century most of Scotland was unified into one kingdom, but conflicts with the English led to a series of bloody wars. (We don’t want to start them again!)

When Mary Queen of Scots’s son James VI succeeded to the English throne in 1603, the two kingdoms were united.

Scotland became a part of the kingdom of Great Britain by a parliamentary act of 1707 and part of the United Kingdom after the Act of Union in 1800.

Edinburgh is the capital and Glasgow the largest city. Population: approx. 5,000,000.
