I have amended my password but when I log on using my new password the computer tells me that it is wrong and when I use my old password I can get into my account??
One of two things happened here, 1, When you uploaded the new data on your login details, the updated data failed to upload correctly. 2, You were sent to a spoof MSN login website.
28 April, 2005 at 7:25 pm #110262Volksie your email addy has most probably been spoofed. I would’nt worry about it as there are many ways to spoof mail (if your Email account has been hacked/cracked, forget changing the password because it wont work, they save the ‘remeber me’ cookie which enables them to still be able to log into your account even if you change passwords). If you get these annoying E-Mail’s via Outlook right click on it and select ‘properties’ the IP of the sender will be shown under the properties tab (this dont work if you received the mail via Hotmail/MSN).
Check these links out for info on how to ‘spoof’ mail, it very, very easy to do.
Oh and dont worry about Owen Volksie, some poor village is missing it’s idiot!
22 April, 2005 at 8:24 pm #109965Dave did you manage to unlock Boilsoft? I sent you the serials via pm.
None of my Ripway links work Dave. They shut access to my account because of piracy. Bástards.
22 April, 2005 at 8:10 pm #109936First of all back up all media, pictures etc to cd/dvd that you want to keep because all files, pics, media will be deleted. Before you format any computer you must make sure you have all software drivers and utilities present for the hardware thats instaled on your comp (ie graphics driver, sound driver, mouse driver, printer driver and so on).
Next you need to configure your bios to boot from the cd/dvd drive (best option for a 100% clean instal) First you need to place your XP installation disc into the drive and then restart your computer. As soon as my computer starts to boot, i keep tapping my f2 button to enter the bios (you will need to use your cursor keys to navigate the bios menu as the mouse wont work) and under the ‘boot’ tab selecting my computer to boot first from the cd/dvd drive and 2nd boot from the hdd, after i selected these i then click on save changes and then press exit, the computer will then restart itself and you will see this message appear ‘press any key to boot from the cd’ now press any key to boot from the XP installation disc already present in your cd/dvd drive. Once you done this you will then be guided on how to delete the partition XP is instaled on, and then format the drive using the ntfs format.
Your comp may have a diffrent way of entering the bios so you may want to check your computer manual for instructions on how to access your bios. Once you configured your comp to boot from the cd/dvd drive follow the on screen instructions and delete the partition XP is instaled on and then format the drive using the ntfs format. Remeber once you have instaled XP you must re-configure your bios to boot from the Hdd first.
Or you can instal XP this way, it’s the easiest way to instal but you wont get as good results. Place your XP installation disc in your cd/dvd drive and follow the on screen guide to delete your current XP installation and format your drive and instal XP. You must rember to format your hdd to ntfs and not fat32 when given the option.
Your XP installation disc would/should of come with your computer, it can also be called an XP recovery disc. After you instaled XP you will now need to instal all software drivers for hardware present on that computer.
Dont be put off it’s very easy and takes about 45 minutes.
