I have just recieved an email, was from a JC user, sent me a bleedin virus :shock:
Said “i love you”
I have McAfee, i have my fingers crossed it will save me…says there is no known cure.
How can i find out if my comp is in self destruct mode now??

No she said she opened an attachment and her Av client alerted her.

Trust me trend micro recognise the generic fingerprint of the I-LOVE-YOU worm. And they dont allow .vbs files to be attached
Soulie if her AV client recognised it as I-LOVE-YOU then it was because they are recognised by there generic fingerprint unique like DNA.
Soulie tell me one AV client that dont recognise the generic fingerprint of the I-LOVE-YOU worm. I do not know of any Virus, trojan or worm that Hotmail does not detect. Microsoft hate Viruses and they even gone to the point of blocking the new variant for mobile phones.
I said it before to get around it you’d have to encrypt it into a file and when the reciever opened the email/attachment it would then have to run some sought of dos code to decrypt itselfs into the worm which is highly unlikely and (quote me if im wrong) but Hotmail dont allow attachments with a .vbs extension making this impossible.
Yeah it alerts you of a suspected virus and blocks the content and wont let you download the attachment.
Right im going to ring Mr Gates and tell him hey guess what Bill them damn virus authors have changed the generic fingerprint of the I-LOVE-YOU worm and AV scanners no longer recognise this Virus and its crawling through Hotmail.
BTW not many ppl dissagreeing with the fact you cant get the I-LOVE-YOU worm through Hotmail. And no i will not keep it to PM when you and your cronies gang up and have ago. I tried to help but it was shoved in my face. And as for Spybot cleaning the mentioned worm.

You cant attach i-love-you worm to an email in Hotmail it pre scans e-mails with an AV client. And if it was sent to you from another email prog Hotmail would of scanned it detected it and blocked it.

Well done, you just been infected by one seriously annoying Virus. This Virus copies itself into the Windoze directory placing Win32dll.vbs and LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs, and even worse if it’s variant one, say goodbye to jpegs, mp3’s, mp2’s it will also HideSharePwds, DisablePwdCaching, alter your registry and loads of other annoying stuff.
Never ever under no circumstances give out your Outlook addy. Your just asking for it and it’s kinda Dumb.

Tis ok…ran spybot and it seems to have cleansed my system and everything is working perfectly…
