uninstall msn, reboot and then reinstall msn again. It sounds as though you deleted a dll from system32 which msn needs.

BB post your routers exact make and model name.

BTW is the DSL modem your using the same one that was supplied by your ISP?

    #104806

I have exactly the same set up minus the wires and my modem is built into the router im 80% sure you would have to configure your router through an explorer screen. You have DSL?? check with your ISP for your recomended MTU packet size for your Broad Band connection and make sure you have configured this correctly with your router. This is normally the number one connection fault for Wireless routers and it may be the same for switches???

Make sure you have path MTU discovery enabled, Heres a tutorial BB and an explanation on what MTU is

You have no tone/connection because you have not configured your Router.

My son has got a Fast Ethernet Switch to connect his Xbox to the internet. I`ve Googled a bit for some info but I`m lost. Can anyone please give me any advice as to how it actually connects up or a link to a site that explains it in `plain English` and is there any info I should be aware of? :?

I have a Netgear ADSL wireless firewall router and i configure my router and firewall through an Explorer screen, im not sure if you would do the same for a fast ethernet switch?

If you go to your hardware manafactures website they normally have a support forum with a wealth of information on your product.

You could try going to the Netgear support forum. Look under switches.

I too downloaded Longhorn 4074 alpha but in .iso and burnt it using Nero so i cant tell you much about the .exe version if it went to dos then it sounds like it attempted an install???. Well if it’s an .exe i thought it would of self installed Longhorn like when you put your XP installation disc in???. However i could not get explorer to run with Longhorn it kept shutting down on me grrrrrrrr and hanging for ages. But man i love that slate look and how you can access most stuff from the desktop. The 4074 alpha i dl’d was a 64 bit OS (they do it in 32 bit too but its poo) and ideally your going to need 1024 mb of RAM to run it efficiently, it did make my sytsem work….high CPU and RAM and that was just for the Prog!!!!

Im gonna wait for a beta release before i bother with it again. I will inform you when the true beta is released.

And as for Memory paging i did say it works sometimes in this post somewere! unfortunatley it did’nt for you but i had noticable gain by disabling it. d/l tune up Trapps because i bet you will at least recover say 50mb of ram.
On a serious note if you disable the above mentioned applications it’s definatley a noticable gain and i hate them damn error reports.

Please post how much you gained from it Trapps i’d like to know.
