Hiya Linda! yes, I’ve been unfortunate to be in America during a tornado. July 10 2019 while in New Orleans they named it ” hurricane barry ” My birthday was coming up so I decided to treat myself :) Me and the sister visited Memphis and New Orleans spending a week in each city. Memphis was our first stop, done all the tourist things, Elvis and graceland, sun studio, Martin luther king museum etc. Our last night fell on the 4th july we were invited to a rooftop party at the peabody hotel. The next morning we boarded the Amtrak train to New Orleans a nine hour journey which I prefer rather than hanging around airports and all that goes with it ! the train down to new orleans was great we had a family room with beds, a shower and upstairs restaurant :) only annoyance during our meal we had to sit with some woman ” a quaker ” who never shut up! anyway, back to our carriage to have a sleep for rest of the journey. We arrived at the Wyndham hotel New orleans in the French quarters , weather was very hot and humid ( New Orleans is built on swamplands :) The day of my bday arrived the family back home had surprised me with a meal out in a beautiful restaurant. I called down to the hotel reception to be met with utter chaos! water was pouring into the hotel, sand bags everywhere . We were told to stay in our rooms as the hotel staff couldn’t get in for work that morning and wait inside the room a note would be delivered to our room explaining what’s happening. I turned the tv on and was shocked at the pictures and footage on the local news! My phone was sending me warning of flash floods!! The flood defence walls around the Mississippi that were build after hurricane katrina went up all around the river. This wall could hold back floods anything up to 19ft we were at 18ft! thankfully the water stayed put. Our flights got cancelled, lucky we had some food in the room because for 48 hours we were stranded in that room! Was annoyed the hotel took advantage of this by charging us double the cost to rebook for another two nights! gave them a nice review on trip advisor when we returned. I am hoping to go back sept this year so much I didn’t get to see . Looking at Nashville then new Orleans :) Bourbon st cocktails were the bizz
Definitely Thin! I also think there should be forced euthanasia on uselessness too. No job, no education, committing crimes etc. This scumbag fits the criteria on all accounts. Lets vote for eutha-nation ! count me in Thin :)
Ahhh, isn’t he a lovely son taking him mum on holiday. Milky, don’t leave us with a cliff hanger! I’m feeling the same tension I felt waiting to see who shot J.R Ewing! As J R once said ” “Never underestimate the elderly!”
“Like my daddy always said, where there’s a way, there’s a will.”
Thin, I don’t like to appear a smart arse, but….If you do this, there is no way that you can get it confused with add because add has two “d’s” in it, whereas ad/advertisement only has one “d” in it. Similarly, if you remember that “add” means to constitute an addition, you won’t ever be able to confuse it with the shorter “ad.”
