For example, Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD) is the name given to several genetic (ie inherited) blood conditions that affect mainly people from Africa, the Caribbean,

This leads to a variety of complications including anaemia, severe episodes of pain (“crisis”), organ damage and infections.
People with SCD are born with the condition. It is not contagious and it can only be inherited from both parents.
