We don’t know that for sure. Virtually everyone I know is either indifferent to, against the Olympics. If they had protested and said, “Look, we the people, don’t want this. Stop the bid and put the money into better schools, hospitals etc or we vote UKIP” then maybe it wouldn’t have-maybe.

To me its just disjointed fragments of sentences which often make no sense. I think this author is trying too hard to sound deep, but instead sounds like a 14 year old boy trying to impress a girl in his class with what he thinks is deep!
