Totally unforgivable of me, how could i be late for Netty’s birthday? Mucho apologies.

Happy belated birthday. I hope you had a great one.

    Brilliant thread!!!!!!!

I love the Johnny Cash version of first time. Like Nina Simone he was a great interpreter of songs and usually transformed them into something other. (For evidence, check out his version of Nine Inch Nail’s version of Hate).

I’m a great fan of Bjork and Ane Brun’s version of Joga is so heartfelt it gives you goosebumps

If anyone saw the brilliant On Top of the Lake on the Beeb recently, they would have noticed another haunting version of this song

And here’s another Ane Brun offering from a rather decent album of Scandinavian people having the gall to take on Leonard Cohen

and finally, hopefully this is a treat for Nick Drake fans, great songs deserve great voices:

I’ve not been on the boards for a fair while, so this is very belated.

I’m sorry to hear your sad news, Yorky.

I’ve always admired your congenial manner in the chat room, and you’re a lovely chatter.
Plus I have always been impressed by your stoicism and how you’ve managed to keep it together in recent times despite all that has been going on.

    You’re in my thoughts.

Rusty forgot his sandwiches and wet wipes before posting himself, so please open any large packages in the open air with flannel, soap, basin of water and a generous picnic adjacent.

    LMAO

And at one fell swoop any remaining modicum of decorum I may have had dissipates into the ether. Truth be told, self-franking is not as pleasant as one might be forgiven for believing it to be, so the package will be somewhat disheveled……..

….. It’s the thought that counts and all that.

I have no idea what this thread is about – not that i’m complaining, mind – but it’s tempted me to pitch Lady-Gardener’s Question Time as a programme idea for Radio 4.

Glad you guys had a lovely time.

Don’t know if it has anything to do with what you all got up to, but just heard on the news that the mayor of Lincoln has just started a petition to rename the town bunnyville.
