Happy New Year to you too Aaron.
Strange, but Ive really missed propping my eyes open with matchsticks, drinking copious amounts of Pinot Grigio drunk through 3 bendy straws joined together and positioning my fags in the most reachable place in order to take part in the Quiz!
Will there be anything new on the Horizon, opps I mean 7 waves, would be nice to have something going on especially as the last event (with your help and patience) raised so much for charity!

GOLLY DUTCHBOATS !!
It was awful. Some stragglers stumbled aboard, the skipper consulted the tide tables and decided we could wait another ten minutes before setting off. The first question was way too hard for the crew and whispers of mutiny began circulating before we had even left the harbour. The sea was calm enough but nothing else was. Bonus points were available for answering in Dutch but lets face it, most of the contestants could barely cope with pre-school English – on a good day. This while Rod Stewart’s ‘Sailing’ droned repetitively over the ship’s loudspeaker.
More disasters followed. Wilma had been left behind at the quayside. Rosepetal would only answer unintelligibly from the galley because she had so much food in her gob. Chess fell overboard. This was not considered to be a problem at all until someone threatened rescue with a deflated armband. Esme had to be strapped to the mizzen mast and shown the cat o’ nine tails but that just cheered her up for some reason. At half-time the captain, by now weary of having rotten fruit chucked at him and seriously concerned about the potential scurvy problem, caught sight of a passing vessel named ‘The Lobby’, and immediately semaphored urgent messages for personnel with a modicum of intelligence. So Lovely Lady and Undertaker rowed over only to be shocked at the state of the poop deck.
The highlight should have been the walking of the plank for whoever came last, and everybody expected to see how Tina would fare at the point of a cutlass. However, it was Diane and Pam who shared this position and the plank simply could not handle the combined weight. Eventually Cath was declared the winner despite the handicap of what was thought to be severe barnacle encrustration, but which turned out to be a number of secret Google servers. The whole thing ran aground on the sandbanks of despair, apathy and incompetence; aimless bickering continued into the night while Poisedon and two seagulls p/ssed themselves laughing.
What a shambles……..See you next week !
Oh that wasn’t food Toy!!!!!

Try Sainsburys or Waitrose or M & S – they are bound to have puff pastry. Tesco Asda & Morrisons etc are unlikely to have much of it left – assuming they had much in to start with.
No wayyyyyyyyyyy am I going shopping again before Christmas and M and S was heaving last night at 7 o’clock infact I got quite sweaty!

In my local Tesco’s today they had sold out of Puff Pastry after watching Jamie Olivers prog the other night when he made chestnut encrusted pastry topped left over turkey and leek pie! So I’m gonna have to wait till the New Year for mine!!!!
17 December, 2008 at 2:50 pm #387906Say what you like about slush, mush and JC but last night brought old and new chatters together in the Christmas Spirit that was intended. The banter before and after the quizzes has been the best and I’m going to miss it, the icing on the cake was hearing Ruby and Sgt sing, brought a tear to many of our eyes on here!
CL, GM, Aaron and his team deserve a medal for putting this together and being so patient with some of us nutters! (I honestly didnt mutter Chess under my breath). The best bit being we raised some money for a Cancer Charity and as a survivor I feel so grateful.
13 December, 2008 at 2:33 pm #387895Can I come as Finest Pudding, with added almonds, succulent glace cherries, golden raisins and laced with brandy.? (God I’m dribbling now)!
