Yes the slave trade was horrific, however too many people forget it was largely self inflicted by the Africans themselves (who sold their own people to whoever would buy) and carries on to this day in the Arab quarter of the middle east. It was William Wilberforce (an Englishman) and many others who forced through legislation banning slavery, an incredible achievement as Britain was at war with France at the time and fighting for its survival. It was the Royal Navy that enforced the ban driving slavers out of business across the Atlantic. Too many remember the horror whilst forgetting the courage of those who put a stop to it.
As for a name, Merchants Quarter sounds just fine, I doubt it was only slaves who were sold and the professional “outraged in my name” people seem to forget this fact too. If they must go down this ridiculous politically correct path then I’d suggest the Wilberforce Quarter should keep most happy.

Very few of those will have made a lot of money at an early age by not doing very much.
Most people who are dying don’t get designer wedding dresses, huge weddings in Englefield Green and wall to wall TV and press coverage.
Most people would realise ignoring a letter from your doctor about pre cancerous cells is Really stupid and dangerous.
So why, when Jade Goody did it, does she get all this? I’m fed up of watching it and seeing it in papers.

Ladies, go for your smear tests. Yes, they’re unpleasant but they can save your life.
Men, give yourself a fondle and check you’re okay for lumps and bumps.

Enough of the faux outpourings of grief. I know you’ve had nothing since Diana, but really. Enough.

All paid for by the people who read and watch this stuff… oh thats you isnt it
Dont blame her blame yourself, I havent read any of it and at the risk of repeating myself what the f*ck is how dumb or rich she is or how clever or poor some people who get cancer are got to do with anything. She’s going to die and she has children thats where the sympathy and the outpourings come into play
What some people need is an operation to transplant a heart into themselves ffs

What makes you think I haven’t had cancer? I had a malignant aggressive tumour removed from my arm 2 years ago and I know what it’s like to despair. However, whilst I have some sympathy towards Jade Goody’s kids, they’re going to be well set up for the future, because their mother is a “celebrity” others aren’t so lucky.

I thought you had to be married to commit adultery.

    adultery –
Noun – sexual unfaithfulness of a husband or wife [Latin adulterium]

She isn’t married so it isn’t adultery, just unlawful (for her, not the guys involved) sex. Yes she broke the laws of saudi Arabia, but 100 lashes for getting raped/your jollies seems somewhat harsh. But that’s Saudi for you where men are men and women are property.

The joy of Sharia, coming soon to Britain, don’t you just love it ladies?

I wrote a letter to my Council yesterday, complaining about the exclusively white nature of the snow we had received so far. I have no doubt whatsoever that I shall receive a reply and probably an apology.

Considering the population of Gaza, the number of actual casualties is very low with a majority of them actually being Hamas activists. Seems like the Israelis are being incredibly restrained here.

You aren’t alone, I suspect a server problem so we’ll have to be patient :(
