Look it up you lazy idiot.

You got my sick note then?

If that is so Owen, then it was bloody clever of them.

I’m sure he’d go down okay if he was minced, and had some seasoning added, but if the crocs still wouldn’t eat him, I’m sure you have some Great Whites along the Great Barrier Reef that aint so fussy.

I would learn my lesson too, and change my number same as you, however, I do expect the chat guides to protect me, and everyone else, regardless of wether I didn’t adhere to the site safety guidelines. PB and others who monitor the site do have certain obligations to protect people as far as possible. As users themselves, I would bet money that they themselves have ignored the guidlines themselves at some time, and done something foolish.

Lamby, you and I don’t pc, or email each other, we are just what you might call casual JC friends, but you know as well as me that we do build up trusts with some people over time, sometimes to the extent of divulging personal information. Sometimes that friendship can end, and so too the trust, the latter can be betrayed.

PB described some examples of how users had been foolish in divulging personal information, and real harm resulted. I know it was their own fault for ignoring the safety guidelines, but as long as people do this, and make no mistake, they will do it, a guide or host must allways err on the side of caution when it comes to issues of privacy and safety. They can’t judge each case on it’s merits when it comes to things like phone numbers being posted, no matter the context, and no matter wether the numbers even appear to be fake.

I agree someone can ask for something to be deleted, but having just done that myself, it appears it can take as long as 48 hours, by that time, someone could have had an abusive caller, or a stranger turning up on their doorstep. Delete all numbers on sight I say, along with any addresses no matter how obviously fake or genuine they may appear.

Most Brits would see the humour in the add. You’ll have to forgive us Kanga, the Government here ( and some of the public too ) are taking political correctness to extremes these days.

FFS, the reason we love the Aussies so much is because they are down to Earth and plain speakers.

God Bless Oz I say, and long may the Aussies swear like f..k

Don’t mind Ugo the JC village idiot. If yer running out of Crocodile food over there, we can send him over.

If I had been foolish enough to give my number out to someone on here, in pc, or email, and my trust was betrayed and it was posted on here. I’d be really pissed off if PB later told me he’d seen it and didn’t delete it because he thought it was a joke.

True Lamby, anyone can dial any number, they don’t need to find one on here, but the abusers on here who have a grudge or who think they’ll get a kick ringing someone on here who they don’t like, they might well do as I said, and that’s who were talking about, not nuisance callers at large.

You are looking at it from the point of view that PB should have known it was a joke/wind-up. That may be so, as he was following the thread, but we can’t rely on that always being the case.

If PB came across on a number on a thread after a number of posts, should he read through the entire thing to try to determine if it was given in jest? I don’t think so. Delete on sight is the best policy.

Lamby, I didn’t see the number, and I know James later said it was fake and didn’t exist, but I’d do the same if I was a guide or a host, no matter the context it was given in, and regardless of the number of digits in it.

The way I see it, there’s so many eejits and pervs in this place, someone might think a number was genuine and ring it, even if there was no such number, it’s still possible to misdial etc.

This reminds me of Neil and Olly and the distress they caused by ringing up what they thought was Dagger’s number. It was the wrong number as it turned out, but they didn’t know that, and they verbally abused the young girl who answered. Some time later, they made jokes about this in the room to dagger, and they gave out the number. It was when Dagger himself rang the number he learned from the woman of the household what had happened. I took all this with a pinch of salt until Olly himself came and and it was discussed. He admitted doing it, and said it was just for a laugh. I couldn’t believe he said he didn’t regret it.

I don’t quite know how they got the number, my understadning was that it was not given out, but that they learned Dagger’s real name and his approximate whereabouts. Being truly dedicated a r s e holes, they found what they thought was a match for Dagger in the phone book.

Posting a non-existant number could still result in someone making an a r s e of noting it down, or dialing it, and giving an innocent person grief.

PB, you are right to delete phone numbers posted on these boards. You can’t waste time thinking about wether they are real or false. I hope you continue to do it without hesitation.
