Abolutely we should forgive those who have ‘sinned’, when they have demonstrated they have repented.
However when people say one thing on one site and another on this, it demostrates that they are not truly sorry and when they continue spreading false lies it demonstrates they have learned no lessons at all. In the online world of course, in the real world you would never trust them again.
And how do you know said person doesn’t suffer with Factitious disorder or Munchausen syndrome?
I think it’s fine, if someone is feeling desperate enough to do that, empathise, don’t chastise. Who is anyone to judge?

I think it’s quite an interesting sociological experiment, to see how people react. Stop crying because you’ve been lied to about something, and being so self entitled. That’s the trouble with modern society, it’s all about rights and entitlement. Delicate little snowflakes. Shrug and move on. And trust me, those who don’t let such things lie, have some serious rafters in their eyes. Critiquing others just removes the onus off of themselves. If someone is big enough to admit a mistake and apologise, the apology should be graciously accepted and it shouldn’t be mentioned again.
