And this is where my experience with The NHS as opposed to Private comes from, as private diagnosed her 8 months into her ordeal, but it was too late by then.

Your line of reasoning is that of my GP and the other consulatants/members of staff who work for the NHS, who visited my mother over an 8 month period and got it tragically wrong before she was finally diagnosed by a PRIVATE SECTOR consultant.
