1 Guns dont shoot people its the person pulling the trigger
2 Yanks have a right to bare arms but in most states they can not carry them in public
3 Anyone can get hold of a gun (you Irish should know)
4 Put our own country in order 1st before you start on others ie knife crimes
5 most gun owners are lawful people so dont paint us with the same brush and im from the uk!!!!

I totally agree yanks have the right to bare arms, what kind of a government, in a democracy, would prevent citizens from baring their own arms!

    Suntanned arms for all comrades!

The myths and misconceptions regarding mental illness and violence are quite depressing. In this case ‘gun crime’ in the USA. Personally I find it quite shocking that in the age of google and instant information people are still so ignorant regarding this issue.

One in four will experience mental health problems in any given year. The USA is comparable to the UK and slightly higher % wise. The majority of extreme violent crime and homicides, particularly ‘gun crime’ in the USA, are committed by people who do not have serious mental health problems. In fact extreme violent crime committed by people with serious mental health issues/illness is rare both in the UK and in the USA.

I suspect media witch hunts are partly responsible but mostly pig ignorance.

Theres too many people with underlined mental illness and then theres some with bad blood in them.
^^^^^What a ridicules’ statement. I my self suffer mental illness, knowing one of the biggest factors is the fear of my loved ones mortality. I can not be sure but I suspect being human, that most people with a mental illness display this trait. I do know that the fear in me made me seek help certainly never thought about going and finding a weapon to kill anyone. There are very few thomos hameltons in this world of mental illness.
When lucy speaks of bad blood, I refuse to believe she is talking about ignorant travellers. Who she has posted about many times in anger, having had to deal with travellers in her job.Sh e has constantly tried to gouda me in to a confrintatition over this issue.
America unfortunately has a gun culture. Thankfully we don’t.I can understand why people would want to arm themselves in that situation.
I think if you disarmed people in the usa, things would go underground and some people would take advantage of this.

I have no idea what Moon is rambling on about here, would someone please kindly translate it for me. She says it is a ridiculous statement then completely agrees with it, then rambles on about Lucy.

    Much appreciated.

yeah thats what i mean, since were the ones paying to keep the foreign Governments in riches, if we stopped giving them money would it make them fix their Country and therefore stop people from fleeing.

Its the West that supplies money and guns so if we stopped, would it help??

30 years ago was Live Aid, and over 30 million was raised back then, more than enough to feed them all but were did it go?
There is more poverty now, more refugees and no sign of a solution.
Governments are getting richer and the people are getting poorer, something has to give.

Many refugees are not fleeing from poverty; they are fleeing from persecution (racial, religious, homophobic etc.), war, tribal warfare, attacks from their own governments and so on. As much as we may not like the way some countries are run, dictatorships, tribal lines and so on, we have contributed to the upheaval in several countries by trying to impose a western democracy on countries that either don’t want or are not ready for it. That’s a very simplistic way of putting it of course, it’s far more complex than that.

The fact is that there have always been refugees for one reason or another and there probably always will. As soon as you address a problem in one area another one will appear in another area. You can’t blame people for wanting a better life than the one they have whatever the cause. In my view, trying to stop refugees is like King Canute trying to stop the tide. It makes far more sense to me for the countries that the refugees want to go to, usually Europe or the US, to agree an approach to supporting these people in a way that no one has to take more refugees than their country can cope with and that every country makes a contribution to funding the support that they need. Maybe rethinking our approach to foreign aid is the answer, with some going to the countries to help those that want to stay there and some going to supporting those that want to leave.

That’s just off the top of my head, I’ve not really thought it through so I’ll wait for holes to be picked in it

Great post Jen, I would also add that politicians like Cameron should be very careful what language they use to describe the situation in Calais and other places, because when de-humanising language becomes the norm, those seeking a better life for themselves and their families eventually become less than human in the eyes of some people, a few of them post on JC boards.

The thing that made me actually chuckle was the picture of him with a fag in his gob wearing a red bra
    Brings me to the question..
Why do some men like to wear womens undies? Seriously?? If you have no boobs (moobs dont count)…why the French Connection UK do you want to wear a bra!!
I know there are more pressing questions that should be asked and answered….ie….his title…his behaviour re drugs etc etc….
But I just cant get my head round this fascination…..hell I understand taking drugs much more

They are really uncomfortable, your bits are scrunched up and you spend forever pulling them out your a rse cheeks, so ive been told!
