Ge dra got a choice like everyone else.  I feel her greatest risk maybe once covid 19 dies down and we return to normal.

Those unvaccinated  will be facing an increasing risk since we all need personal contact with others such as dentists, doctors and more.  The UK may reach a point where covid 19 rare, unfortunately with opposition growing outside the UK to vaccination’s or country’s halting there programs…once travel returns to normal there an increased risk.

No  Johnson and Johnson in the UK yet.    If numbers start to fall and too many miss there second vaccination, they may start offering it.

Numbers on new infections aren’t looking good here.  The India variant is spreading fast in the mill towns. The media is reporting 7 new deaths.  There reports anyone over the age of 18 will be offer a vaccine from June 1st. Most over 50’s received there second doses by now and those left will be called in before June 1st.  Staff numbers and capacity at vaccine centres are increasing to deal with it.

I think NHS is flexible on vaccines now.

While going thru health screening on Sunday, a person was did request Moderna instead of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.  NHS staff were happy accommodate this persons wishes.

Since most vaccination centres are now administering both, isn’t much of an issue.

    I think Ge’s right  B-)

Health experts widely believe the benefits of being vaccinated outweigh the risks, since people with chronic conditions typically have a higher risk of a severe form of the disease.

Patients with autoimmune and inflammatory rheumatic diseases face a higher risk of hospitalization from COVID-19.

Every person will react differently to the vaccines.

“What’s important to keep in mind is that all diseases of the immune system were not created equally. Some may impact the development of vaccine-mediated immunity, and some stand to benefit a great deal from the vaccine,” Ahmadi said.

There are no right or wrong answers in a pandemic at the start.  Now we’re over a year in and know a lot more. Wrong answers come from those looking for attention in a time of crisis who use guess work rather than medical fact…..sharing those ideas online.

Threads on message boards aren’t just read by the sites users. They come up on search engines too and read by many others looking for answer’s.

I’d love to handle this subject in a more light hearted way….then I think of person who just lost a love one or living in terror of contracting this deadly virus who stumble upon this thread.

Before I post a reply I fact check and post links to my sources.  Giving people the chance to read those sources and decide for themselves.

Some of the comments Linda and others have made on this thread are pure speculation and irresponsible at a time of fear and crisis.  Adding to the suffering of those effected by this pandemic.

Ge sorry haven’t been paying much attention to you…it was my second time on Sun and linda’s paranoid ramblings took what ever brain cells still had working to reply too.

And know to deal with Linda newest moan…..

    What is a GMO?

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.

In all fairness I’d be more worried about taking a “live” vaccine than a GMO.   In the past new “live” vaccines caused endless misery around the world. I still know people today who were affect by the polio vaccine program back in the late 1950’s.

Will a GMO end our world?

I hate to say this but no, ( Ge I can tell your so disappointed now). In all honesty its like to be one of the many bacteria locked away in the glaciers for the last 50,000 years that we have no real immunity to and now defrosting due to global warming.

My feeling is GMO vaccines maybe the only way to defend ageist such nasty old bugs.

Covid 19’s not going away for years.  We didn’t vaccinate the 3rd world such has India and now were seeing new variants.  The only real way to end covid 19 is to pour billions into a world wide effort to eradicate this virus.  Unfortunately due to politics, infighting and ant vac movements it wont be possible.   Every lunatic story’s around covid 19 isn’t helping too.  Each time a new covid  19 conspiracy is released into the world….another 100,000 people refuse the vaccines increasing the risk of a new variant.

And if you think better border controls will stop it affecting you… that’s total madness too.  Refuges packed into boats and lorries from some of the poorest parts of the world will bring it with them. Every tourist taking a holidays overseas is a risk too.

Just learn to live with it and plan your next lockdown like me  B-)

It’s funny you should say bone pins, I was watching a vid on this today.

For the rest of it….you got treatment right away and that support carried on for years. By the sound it afterwards you made a full recovery & enjoyed a full life including overseas travel.

As for the panic you felt before taking the vaccine. Given the amount of medical treatment you received in the past……… anxiety with any new medical procedure is normal.

When I look thru my wallet I find all kinds of cards I’m forced to carry daily. (Driving licence, work id and more.)  Why moan about adding to it?  Isn’t like you can go anywhere without the rest.

On Sunday while getting me second dose they hand me a load of paper that I thru on the side once I got home and never looked at until today.

Lets answer a few running questions:

    1. What COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca is and what it is used for

COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca is a vaccine used to protect people aged 18 years and older against COVID-19.

COVID-19 is caused by a virus called coronavirus (SARS CoV 2).

COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca stimulates the body’s natural defences (immune system). It causes the body to produce its own protection (antibodies) against the virus. This will help to protect you against COVID-19 in the future. None of the ingredients in this vaccine can cause COVID-19.

    What COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca contains

One dose (0.5 ml) contains: COVID 19 Vaccine (ChAdOx1-S* recombinant) 5 × 10^10 viral particles

*Recombinant, replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus vector encoding the SARS CoV 2 Spike glycoprotein. Produced in genetically modified human embryonic kidney (HEK) 293 cells.

This product contains genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

    The other excipients are:

    • L-histidine
    • L-histidine hydrochloride monohydrate
    • magnesium chloride hexahydrate
    • polysorbate 80
    • ethanol
    • sucrose
    • sodium chloride
    • disodium edetate dihydrate
    • water for injections

    Anyone questions see:

    Dra… in simple terms yes.

Its not a drug and stays in the body for a prolong period offering protection from a specific virus. You cant say any of the current covid 19 vaccine’s are “true” vaccines. There not alive or based on the original virus like the yearly flu jab.

My understanding of how this vaccine works is that its a coating preventing the virus from infecting blood cells.

Introducing a foreign element into the body fairly common approach. For years people received pins to repair bones, new man made hips and stents in hearts.  We’re all used to having filling at the dentist too.

Since “true” vaccines take years to develop and there a pandemic running wild right now… trying to name our current treatments as something else would confuse the public.   And to be honest I cant think of another word to describe this process.
