Do you remember the part in Animal Farm where the pigs start to look like the farmers? The same thing is happening with America now. The US has criticized so many countries for abusing human rights but now you’ve got the illegal wiretaps, the secret cia prisons, extraordinary rendition, abolition of habeas corpus in terrorism cases, approval of torture and other abuse by interrogators and of course the gulag and kangaroo courts in cuba.
Bush is creating a more and more draconian style of government and his incompetent administration is kept in power by the constant use of fear and by people wrapping themselves in the flag. They go around saying that you can’t criticize government policy because it will “embolden the enemy”. They say that you have to keep them in power to keep America safe from attack. So this, by all appearences, hopeless administration remains in power slowly eradicating the values and principles that Americans used to be proud of. Soon the US policy towards enemies of the state will become indistinguishable from that of say Syria, Saudi arabia, or even China.

It’s a government conspiracy like Roswell and 9/11. It was organized by Tony Blair and the judiciary. Lord Faulkner sneaks into people’s properties in the dead of night clandestinely planting incriminating evidence in people’s recycling waste.
20 October, 2006 at 12:23 am #245346You can be sure that under a BNP government any ex-service personnel would receive the best healthcare and support possible…….as long as they’re white and swear a blood oath to defend the Aryan race from Jews, communists and homosexuals.
To be fair, the BNP need to look out for the military where else would they get tips on making or acquiring explosives. Not that the BNP are violent thugs, oh no! I mean doesn’t everyone have some homemade napalm next to the homemade strawberry jam. As Emma would probably testify, just because the occasional BNP member is arrested with a huge stash of guns and/or explosives that doesn’t make them a bad person.
20 October, 2006 at 12:08 am #245341Paying racists to stop being racist? What connection does that have to Cameron’s meeting today? None whatsoever. It’s an idea you plucked out of thin air. You put 2 and 2 together and got a headache.
19 October, 2006 at 5:58 pm #245182Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t policy in Swansea a matter for the local council there and not Westminster? Secondly, isn’t there a little thing called the Welsh Assembly in Wales. So wtf do national elections have to do with this issue?
Emma, you say the man is innocent until proven guilty but don’t you think the guilty verdict at the magistrates court had something to do with establishing his guilt? You don’t see how he could have done the thing he was punished for even though the item was in his recycling bag and had his name and address on it.
You’ve got to be the stupidest woman I’ve ever come across. Can’t we have you sectioned?
19 October, 2006 at 5:40 pm #245338Are you stupid or what? You start a thread about Rhymefest’s meeting with David Cameron today in 2006 and then you go on to quote lyrics from a completely different group written over a decade ago. What exactly does it prove except that you’re a complete idiot?
As for the point that Rhymefest was trying to make that went over your head, if governments invest in neglected and deprived areas then it will improve those areas and will help eradicate the problems that are reflected in the lyrics of some rappers. Anyway, rappers and people who listen to rap and other people who live in those deprived areas pay taxes too. Whose responsibility is urban regeneration, policing, housing, youth projects, etc? Is it not the responsibility of local and central government?
There are positive and negative aspects in all types of music and rap is no different in that respect.
18 October, 2006 at 8:15 pm #244365I think people are just being petty. If people want to wear wimpoles, niqabs, turbans, yarmulkes or whatever it really doesn’t bother me. They’re not asking you to wear it are they? So what’s all the fuss about? It’s a load of narrow-minded nonsense.
18 October, 2006 at 8:05 pm #245113“Great way to buy a vote” you say. Are the actors standing for election then?

White people come here who don’t speak English well either. I remember when I was in school there were a few Iberian kids who barely spoke any English. It wasn’t a problem for us though because it was a Christian school and it didn’t suffer from the sort of ignorant prejudices that exist among adults in our society.
Drivel doesn’t realize that it takes time to master a new language. He’s probably one of those people who would struggle to order a cup of tea if he went abroad yet he gets all high and mighty about people coming here who aren’t fluent in English.
Don’t judge me Bigstuff – I am not excluding any colours – I never mentioned colours – I said all people coming to live here shoudl learn the language
How the hell can we teach people of they cant speak ENGLISH ffs
As for mastering languages Bigmouth – I can speak both French and Russian as well as my native English – you try learning Russian sometime
My remarks are not racist at all – the only racism is coming from the likes of Tiler – who seems to depise this country and it’s Government – yet is quite happy to take all the handouts too !!You speak 3 languages? Yeah right, I’ll believe it when I see it. Secondly, people can be taught if they don’t speak English well. The best way to improve your language skills is to immerse yourself in the country of the language that you’re learning. So if someone wants to learn English the best thing they could do is travel to England.
18 October, 2006 at 7:51 pm #244961The kid’s fortunate to be adopted by Madonna, he’s going to live a life of privilege instead of a life of poverty and hardship. Madonna’s not the only celeb to adopt a kid from a poor country. Angelina Jolie did the same and so did Mia Farrow. Madonna said she intends to take the kid back regularly so that he can learn about his native culture and meet up with his father.
