Well since you are finally willing to accept that there are a lot of good immigrants in the UK we’ll end the discussion here.
7 May, 2006 at 6:44 pm #212835“Pure English blood”    No such thing. English are a mix of different European ethnic groups.
As for the boy killing his father’s killer, well I have some sympathy for him but it’s not going to change our legal system.
7 May, 2006 at 6:24 pm #213645I don’t think liberalism is very important. Democracy is the important issue. It’s also not important for a country to be Christian in order for democracy to flourish. The world’s biggest democracy is India which doesn’t have a Christian tradition.
To a certain extent, liberalism has eroded some long-held principles for societies and this change hasn’t always been for the better. So I don’t think we should necessarily be getting other countries to change their own concepts of personal freedom.
It also has to be remembered that liberal Western democracies have frequently played a role in suppressing freedom and democracy in other parts of the world, including countries with no tradition of Christianity.
The strategies for Iraq and afghanistan were poorly planned which is why things are so bad there and democracy hasn’t really taken hold. The decision to invade Iraq in the first place was a ridiculous idea.
7 May, 2006 at 6:02 pm #212928All I’m saying is that she’s making generalizations about these people without knowing all the facts. Unless you know about every single person in that block how can you make statements about all of them? You can’t say “they all do this” and “they all do that” if you only know ONE of them.
The bottom-line is that I’m fed up with the constant prejudice in this country against immigrants. Some people ask why immigrants don’t try to fit in more but considering how hostile this country is towards immigrants, it’s no wonder that some decide to stay within their own communities. Whenever there’s an election it’s always the same old story of bashing ethnic minorities and bashing immigrants. The message that’s put across is that if you’re not White and of Western Euopean origin then you’re not welcome here.
Some immigrants are good and some immigrants are bad. Each immigrant has to be judged on his own individual merits. As simple as that. END OF STORY.
6 May, 2006 at 10:55 pm #213335I decided to look up some info on Barking and by all accounts it seems to be a heavily-deprived sh1thole. Naturally, in this sort of environment you’re going to see a lot of social problems and this is where the mischief by the BNP comes in. They go around Barking telling everyone that the area’s problems are down to immigration, multi-culturalism, PC, etc. and if people were to vote BNP they would make the place better. Their campaigns are often accompanied by bogus statistics and bogus stories which a lot of people take at face value.
Despite what the BNP say, the real problem in Barking is not multiculturalism or immigration, it appears to be huge neglect by central government. It sounds like Barking needs massive investment for urban redevelopment, better policing, skills training, youth projects and things like that. I wonder what Margaret Hodge has been doing as that area’s MP(when not giving PR coups to the BNP).
When it comes to housing, the irony is of course that groups like the BNP generate so much hatred towards refugees and asylum seekers that nobody wants them in their area. So the majority are concentrated in the South East where there is a housing shortage. If they could be dispersed around the country it would relieve some of the pressure but there’s far too much xenophobia for that policy to work effectively (as has been shown in places like Glasgow).

And if Tommy thinks I work without a cup of tea stuck in my hand and a fag he’s wrong.Since DOA comes from Brighton maybe he has a “fag” with a cup of tea stuck in his hand (although what people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms is really no concern of mine  )
6 May, 2006 at 6:27 pm #212923Well Becky you haven’t said whether the people in this block are immigrants, refugees or asylum seekers. Your story just doesn’t add up and I don’t think you’ve given us all the relevant facts. I don’t think you can know the personal circumstances of all those people just because your relative lives with one.
If they are asylum seekers then it would explain why they don’t work. The government doesn’t allow them to!!! That might explain any grant to buy furniture but I’ve never heard of people given a grant to buy a car. So maybe the people with cars aren’t asylum seekers.
I would take your story more seriously if you actually had concrete details but all I’m hearing is hearsay. So while there might be elements of truth in your story, it sounds mostly like gossip and rumour.
6 May, 2006 at 6:10 pm #213453What’s going on in Russia now with racism is horrific. Amnesty International said that racist attacks were “out of control” there. I’ve heard horror stories of infants having their throats slit or being beaten to death by skinheads over there.Ironically, we use the term “caucasian” to describe white people. But a Caucasian in Russia won’t necessarily be regarded as white in Russia.
The menace of extreme-nationalism is on the rise all across Europe. If we don’t stamp it out now then eventually it will blow up in our faces.
6 May, 2006 at 5:59 pm #213329Well the EU promotes stability and closer ties between european countries. Helmut Kohl was passionate about making Europe a success because he never wanted to see another time when Western Europe was at war with each other. Who could have forseen in 1945 that Germany, Poland, Italy, France and the UK would all be good friends now.
6 May, 2006 at 5:49 pm #2133281) Full withdraw from the EU would be disastrous for British business. Ask the CBI if they want to pull out of Europe. It would also create extra bureaucracy for anyone needing to travel, stay, work or trade in Europe.
2) Tough on criminals I can’t even take that one seriously considering how many BNP members are criminals.
3) Going back to imperial measures is just idiotic since they are less precise measurements and no good for precision work such as science, sport or manufacturing.
4) Corporal punishment for criminals wouldn’t actually solve anything. It didn’t act as a deterrent when it existed in the past.
5) Capital punishment is also an idiotic idea since the courts can never get it right every time. Mistakes have been made even with DNA cases and whose word are we supposed to take that someone was caught red-handed?
6) Rebuilding of British Industry- nice slogan but where are the details? Where’s the money? I don’t see how you can rebuild British industry while at the same time harming British companies by pulling out of Europe.
7) Organic farming – WTF is that all about????? Is that some sort of “Blood & Soil” nonsense.
8. It’s easy to say cut bureaucracy but there is already a report on cutting paperwork in the public sector. So where would the BNP find extra money for the NHS beyond what the government can find?
9) Develop cleaner fuels, where are the details?
10) More greenbelts? So they’re going to increase housing and rebuild British industry while creating more greenbelts? Bullsh1t.
11) Development aid is important to enable poorer countries to prosper and to help keep them stable. Therefore it’s important for global security and would cut immigration if rich countries were serious about making poverty history.
12) Expand the military- another empty slogan, where are the sums. The military costs money and where are the BNP going to find the money to implement all their policies? It’s bullsh1t for gullible people.
As for invading Ireland, that’s another idiotic policy since it would bring us into conflict with the USA which has a sizeable Irish population. So even if the BNP weren’t nazis their other policies are still a steaming pile of crap. Sorry for the long reply but you did ask me to challenge their ordinary policies while ignoring all the obvious racist and nazi ideas.
