I was actually quite sickened by the media hanging around outside the hospital waiting for him to die.
Really turned by stomach, sick vultures.
Then on the news last night…….George Best nearly dead…..ffs !
Irrelevent of what anyone feels about GB, what I saw on TV last night with 40 odd news/media crews loitering outside the hospital will stick in my brain for a bit.
they were there because he is or was one of the most famous sportsmen the world has ever known
he’s right up there with ali, pele etc in terms of recognition
he was flawed to say the least
but you only have to listen to the people that actually knew him to realise how very lovable he must have been
very childlike, a victim of his genius
RIP you crazy diamond
Irrelevent [but not disagreeing with you].
It was the sight of seeing all those “journo’s” hanging round a hospital waiting for a man to die. The news reports the night before that Best didn’t have long to live……..as if they were just waiting for a “news just in…….” story.
Not particularly a sign of respect for a dying man is it ?
I grew up with my dad following Best [he’s also a Man U follower #-o  ], so I think I can understand the impact he must have a hell of a lot of people.
