Also, just to clarify, it’s a chatroom. You may have noticed that on occassion people lie, cheat, abuse etc etc etc. I have even spotted a few people in there using fake names……like mucky1234, which isn’t my real name btw!!!

Yes people on here do fake, from lies to deceit to taking peoples lives as a complete nothing and throwing them about like a toy. I don’t think it is something you just write off as ‘hey it’s just the internet’… it affects lives whether you think it sad or lonely or not. There are laws nowadays that protect people from online harassment and abuse, so it is actually quite serious.
Again just to clarify – I haven’t harassed or abused anyone other than saying that the image posted in the other forum was taken from a hairdressing website. Internet fraud is also actually quite serious. This is how grooming etc takes place.
I suppose those of us that have always been honest about who we are, find it hard to understand the need for people to have fake personas. To myself if you need to have a fake persona it is obviously for immoral purposes or you have an incredibly low self esteem and if that is the case, it would be easier to not share your picture than to make one up. There are plenty of users in the chat rooms who remain an enigma and who have gained as much respect as those who chose to wear their heart on their sleeve, I see no need to fake who you are.

My gut feeling is, if it was a genuine concern, a real dilema that someone was thinking their friend should know something they had found out about…then if it was genuine, it would be discussed with the friend surely, and not posted about on a message board…for all and sundry (including myself) to come and respond to. It’s a chatroom with a message board – we all know if something on here/said in there is posted about it’s going to cause gossip and speculation and lead to nastiness from some people (as has already been requested by Mel for certain people/trolls to stop witch -hunting) that in my opinion is bullying!

When I started this thread, no one had been mentioned. Unfortunately the sequence of events that followed have now meant that ppl in the chat rooms knows who is being discussed. My main regret is speaking about it at a very quiet time in F2 with a certain troll present (a moment of stupidity I admit). I would like to point out that I tried to give the male individual the opportunity to discuss this and they chose not to talk to me, prior to all of this.) I would also like to point out that if I hadn’t have mentioned it, it was going to be said by someone else on a much more confrontational level.
Sarah if stating that someones picture was a fake makes me a bully then so be it.
All I spoke about was the fact her picture was a fake and that the IP didn’t match where she said she was, the whole ‘fake relationship’ and all of the other rumours that are going around came from others adding their own opinions and being kept alive by certain male chatters who have nothing better to do.
The 2 parts I spoke about happened to be fact, not rumours.
I spoke in F2 about the fake picture, and made a cardinal mistake in that there was someone there who has taken this whole thing and began a witch hunt. Again I ask this individual and the other internet trolls to stop. There is no bullying here. I haven’t said anything that isn’t true. I searched a picture and it came up linked to lots of websites. Fact.
That is as far as it goes as far as I am concerned.
Ok let’s just pause and bring this all back into perspective.
No one has ever said that their relationship was a fake. They could well be having a relationship, and if they are and are happy then they are truly blessed.
The fake part comes in when the photograph of one of them which was posted on a 3rd party closed membership site by the other of them looked too professional to be real. When you open Google images there is an option to put a picture into it and it will search the internet for it. I tried this with my own pictures as I was concerned this would bring access for all and sundry to my facebook and twitter accounts but it does not. When I googled the image being passed off as this chatter it came up with several links to hairdressing websites.
Another chatter has since told me in pm that maybe this chatters image has been used for immoral purposes by websites. If that is the case (which seems far fetched to me) they need to take out a court proceeding against all of these sites.
Now on to the IP issue. The IP of this chatter was searched on another website. It has nothing at all to do with Just Chat and similarly it makes no bearing on whether the person was an authority figure on Just Chat, as the owner of the other site they chose to tell me as a member of the other site. I have not been given personal information. I was not given an IP address only an approximate location of this person, namely in the UK and not abroad as has been said in chat. I fail to see how this is a breach in confidentiality any more than Desmondy telling the whole of Forum 2 about an image of me on my facebook account in a swimsuit. (Works both ways Des).
I would like to further add that I only spoke about the photograph and the IP because I thought perhaps someone was being played. If I was wrong then I apologise. I would also like to ask that all of the chatters who have now began a hate campaign against this couple and anyone involved with them should stop. I am sure they had their reasons for the fake image, but the wave of immaturity which has been directed at certain chatters associated with them is utterly pathetic.
Since voicing my opinion there have been multiple chatters saying that they had suspicions about the individual with the fake picture, I would like to add that I had no suspicions about this person and found them to be nothing but pleasant in the chat rooms, my only concern was the images being passed off as them, and posted by their partner. It is sometimes better to remain completely elusive than to post a fake image especially one so very obviously fake.
