Last week I saw someone I haven’t seen in ages; she walked into the shop all stooped with her body language almost apologising for existing. It seems a customer who is also a homeopath had suggested that she should come and see me without realising that we already knew each other. We chatted for a while, caught up on each other’s news, and I learned that life has not been kind to her in the last couple of years and she’s been in a downward spiral. We talked for some time about how we deal with the stuff life throws at us and looking for the silver lining to every cloud that blots our landscape, and how many blessings we have in our lives even when things seem bleak with nothing to hold on to. She left with a smile on her face and a spring in her step which was a joy to see.
Today I have received a beautiful colourful card from her thanking me for brightening her day, and saying “I wanted you to know how you inspired me; look at the back of the card”. The card is entitled “Brightening up your day” and is from an acrylic painting, painted by her the day after she visited.
They say talk is cheap, but the power of the right words at the right time, with a hug from someone who cares, is priceless.
Aww, that’s wonderful Jen!
It is true what you said there about words.
You can know all the words in the world.. but knowing the right words to use can be priceless.
Oh yes and caring hugs too!
