All through childhood Terry had been besotted with a girl in our class; for the sake of common decency I’ll call her Jennifer. Terry finally plucked up courage to ask her out to the end term of College Ball and during the evening he had tried to propose to her. Shaken by his forwardness and his assertion of undying love she had turned him down in a non committal manner which would ensure he continued to buy her drinks for the rest of the evening. Jenny said she wouldn’t marry him unless he had a job which would keep her the manner she aspired to: a Gold credit card, a four bed roomed house, several holidays every year and a 9″ plonker. Terry was taken aback by these conditions but vowed that he would make a success in life and do everything he could to fulfil her desires. They parted company and went their separate ways and as with many youthful school romances they lost contact when influenced by others in the broader palette of worldly experiences.
Ten years later while driving through his home town he saw again. He had blossomed in the world of high finance, drove a Bentley Continental and owned homes around the Globe. He saw her one afternoon in an insalubrious part of town. Jenny was struggling with a pushchair and a screaming child with two shopping bags draped over the handles. He parked up a walked over to her “Hello Jen” he said “remember me?” She looked well and the rekindled love and desire in his eyes was most apparent. “Is that Terry?” she hesitantly asked? “Yes” he replied “I’m glad you remembered me, How are you?” He didn’t need to ask but it only seemed polite. He could see that her dreams had not materialised and that she was like so many of his college friends, trapped in world of motherhood forced upon on her not by choice but by accident. He ushered her into a nearby Bistro determined to impress her with his charm. Jennifer and Terry spoke of old times whilst little Darius devoured his second bag of Monster Munch. Jenny placed her hand on Terry’s Armani suit sleeve. She was always a tactile thing he mused. “Remember that last dance we attended,” she inquired “and those dreadful things I said to you”. Terry nodded. “Yes, Jen after that rebuff I was determined to make a success for myself. And I’ve done very well. I formed an Internet company selling all manner of high-tech gadgets. I employee over a hundred staff and travel the world re-sourcing products. I have apartments in various cities and two beautiful children and a devoted wife who was a Paris fashion model. Life has been good”. Jenny’s face couldn’t hide her disappointment and envy.” Looks like I was responsible for sowing the seeds of your ambition” she reluctantly acceded. She placed her hand on the warmth of his thigh “and the other stipulation” she coyly inquired. Terry lent forward and almost brushing the nape of her neck with his warm breath he whispered “I saved hard and had a course of monkey gland serum to reduce my penis by 3 inches to ensure I fulfilled your wishes. :?

Wasn’t that one of Dick Emery’s catch phrases?
Who the heck is Richard Emery? Bloody forum censorship makes a mockery of what I wrote LOL29 February, 2008 at 8:53 pm #315020Thanks for the ‘welcome back’ Sharon I hardly recognised your avatar and have added it to my collection of forum bints I have in my special grotto
Special thanks to Jack Dee for the tag line to my JW piece
29 February, 2008 at 1:24 pm #315013One rainy day last year I was visited by a pair of JW’s and because of the inclement weather invited them in. Out of courtesy I showed them into my lounge and bid them to be seated. I asked whether they would like a cup of tea and a slice of cake; both of which they declined. Well I wasn’t going to be put off my elevenses and returned a few minutes later and joined them. Making myself comfortable I asked them what the purpose of their visit was; They both looked at each other quizzically, after a pause the elder spoke “I don’t know we’ve never got this far before”.
I watched them walk down the drive. I haven’t been bothered by them since.2 September, 2007 at 11:25 pm #285372180 hits and just the two of us prepared to put our names on a petition.
Speaks volumes of this community.
The JC acronym is quite fitting.30 August, 2007 at 6:42 pm #285174I never thought I’d see the day when I agreed with our guiding light PB. I’ve always thought I was reading from a different history book than almost everyone else. I remember Mandela being imprisoned for acts of butchery and terrorism against apartheid in much the same way as the IRA’s campaign was against us. Will be seeing Statues erected to those who have waged war against us outside the pubs in Birmingham and Colchester to commemorate their actions. :?:
