Alan,
Good for you.
Sheltered accommodation can be very reassuring
So, I take it that you don’t have a D.I.Y tale to share with us :)

An alternative moral could be:
Operate within your capabilities. see the ref. “Bit off more than I could chew”
There are companies out there that will take a responsible attitude and understand that self assembly products will sometimes be beyond the scope of all users and accept that sometimes the end result will not be as expected; whether it’s an ability problem or in my circumstances an accident. The assembly instructions failed to state that the carcass should be secured to a rigid wall before the doors were hung. It was only after they were in place that the danger was evident. I am sure their instruction sheet is being corrected as I type.
The fact that no one was injured is fortunate. A pair of mirrored doors could do serious damage.
If IKEA had not been so understanding then my credit card company would have reimbursed the value of the wardrobeThe tale was written to add a little humour to what was a serious incident and placed in the section of the forum for such items.
9 November, 2006 at 1:02 am #247661Dear Mr Pedantic,
You’re dead right. I can do a web search to and refresh my memory when needed but I choose to use artistic licence to add a funny punch line to end my tale.
Somehow I dont think “I cut off more than I could chew” would have fitted so well.I don’t think John and Lorena Bobbitt would mind this alteration to the facts, the end result was the same whatever the method of removal was.

7 November, 2006 at 9:09 am #246270Just responding to your comment Tory.
“Someones either moody or just spoiling for a fight.”
So, does this mean I should delete you from my Christmas Card list?
:wink:7 November, 2006 at 12:26 am #246267Tory,
It looks like my dastardly plan has faltered. I was expecting some outrage about my remark about hating Italians and its backfired and fizzled out with the thread giving solice to Twilight and rightly so.
So, just to clarify:I hate Italians those little slanty eyes give me the creeps cannot abide them etc etc.
Whoops I didn’t mean Italians I meant Italics (their slanty i’s) get it? eh eh

See, I’m not such a bad guy after all. [-o<
7 November, 2006 at 12:11 am #247395I was invited to my grandson’s bonfire party on Sunday night. 4 lads from 2-7 I thought it would be nice to take some fireworks with me so popped into Asda late in the afternoon and bought what I thought was a good selection box. It was £29.99 a reasonable price or so I thought. I topped it up with a pack of rockets @ £9.99 and was pleased when I was told it was ‘buy one get one free’. I couldn’t resist checking the selection box out when I got back to the car and to my horror found it was a single firework with 48 actions. Now not wanting to disappoint the lads I found another outlet and bought a proper selection box £39.99. It was so big I had to drop the back seat down to get it in the boot. Think I went a bit over the top. The fireworks were too large to let off in their small garden so tonight we had another party at my house. I’m not sure how many fireworks we had but it lasted almost twenty five minutes. It was great the evening was clear, a little warmer than on Sunday with an almost full moon again. I normally travel down to Corby for their firework display but missed it this year so the money saved in petrol went up in smoke via my back garden. We had baked potatoes chestnuts and parkin. All traditional stuff which everyone enjoyed. a splendid evening celebrating a British tradition; bloody great.
