The Data Protection Act falls apart on so many levels for me. For one thing, jurors are told not to discuss the case but people are free to wander in and out of the public gallery and hear largely the same evidence but with no restrictions that I know of.
Where do you draw the line? Technically speaking, police, fire brigade & ambulance radios are against data protection as there are names and addresses being passed over them which anyone within earshot can hear.
I know and fully understand why it’s there, I just think it gets unnecessarily over complicated sometimes.
