I think they “died” (although I don’t think they’ve died, just slowed down with old age) when people started bringing their arguments from the chatrooms onto the boards and started thinking that everything on the boards was to do with the chatrooms.

The best times here (in my opinion) were when the majority of board users didn’t use the chat rooms or were able to separate the two.
