It has been suggested to me that some chatters won’t know me by my old name so won’t feel able to trust me!! Hmmmmph!!!
I’m a regular chatter in Forum 3, chatting as chirpy_chick or FatOldUglyBottleBlondeFemale (depending on my mood and whether or not the latter gets booted!) – of course if you don’t chat in F3 that won’t make the blindest bit of difference to you but hey ho…… :-

I can understand how political correctness came about but I think it’s gone way too far now. The pc brigade will leap on any word they think of as being offensive, with no regard to the context in which it is used or if the person it is directed at is even remotely bothered by it.
A friend of mine always greets me with “owzit anging you old tart”, I reply with”oi, less of the old you slapper”…..no doubt the pc brigade would jump up and down over this, but we both know it’s a joke and nothing is meant by it (I think…. :? )
As for the media, oooh look, there’s a word or statement there we can take out of context and make a story of…let’s not let the whole picture get in the way of a good story. Hey there’s a royal involved too, might get this one to run for a few days….

Yes, it’s an example of poor parenting. Yes the question should be asked where were social services when a 3 year old was wandering the streets. Also, what about the neighbours who saw a 3 year old wandering the streets. What about the teachers who saw this child every day. What about the doctors who treated the family…..and so on and so on.
However the young boy also needs to take responsibility here, it’s too easy to say ah well look at my upbringing, what do you expect. I have known people who have come from dire circumstances, possibly worse than this lad, but they have been a credit to themselves despite their upbringing. Maybe this will be a turning point for the lad, I truly hope so.
