Food is definitely more expensive, and things aren’t going up by a penny or two, but 10p and 20p jumps at a time. However…..
supermarkets seem to be doing more and more special offers – last week I was going to make a chicken curry but found that I could buy a ready-mady “healthy eating” meal for two of 1 chicken korma, 1 lamb jalfrezi, 1 pilau rice and 2 naan for £1.20 less than I could buy just the chicken for! I don’t usually buy ready meals, but that day I did.
This week the supermarket is doing a special, 1/3 off fresh chicken, much more up my street and I’m stocking up the freezer. There are some good deals on the fresh vegetables too.
So yes, prices have gone up, but there’s some good deals on too and the canny shopper will take advantage of those deals and stock up.
