I do the same because you can actually get a handle on peoples characters by what they say.
In life I am not someone who is serious and am always up for a laugh, and to me there is a lot of fun in having a good laugh and joke but perhaps it is a sad reflection of this site that it is often assumed as a criticism when something is said as a joke

funnily enough in France there is very little imported wine so the choice is …. well I can’t say limited but it is only to French wines usually

though I can’t complain because I work teaching English to French business people and one of the places I ‘work’ at is a huge wine producer in this region – I often return from a lesson with an interesting bottle to sample – hard life but someone has to do it
