For some though their passports are fake
Mine says GB & NI and always will but whether the kids choose to change nationalities is up to them
22 April, 2012 at 5:42 pm #493845Interesting question
But it is a question on several levels
Firstly I am English and always will be
Secondly I am British as England is part of the UK
Lastly we choose to live in France because we enjoy the lifestyle here, but that does not make us French though we do try to avoid the British cliques in this area.
These days being nationalistic still can be important but society is these days multi-national and so whether we are English British or European we still have our own identities, and saying that I choose the friends I have from their personalities and if I like them rather than from their nationality
England for the Euro Football Championships and Britain for the Olympics

J in France I love the french recipe for Clafoutis… Basically a batter pudding filled with fruit especially cherries in summer or any other kind of fruit such as plums or apples etc. Sprinkled with sugar and served with cream it’s delicious !
I am not a dessert eater as I have to keep an eye on sugar intake but there are some lovely desserts available in France, though they still have to learn the difference between creme anglaise and custard.
Cream is very different here as they don’t have the creams like single, double or clotted but it is possible to find some things that are a bit similar and which with a bit of work can be almost the same
But as they say – Vive la difference
21 April, 2012 at 9:22 pm #490629One of the nice things about cooking is that there are always several different recipes for the same thing and each is correct.
Many people have passed down recipes from family and friends that have each taken a different course over the generations.
My parents came from Yorkshire so things like Parkin and Yorkshire Pud are a given.
Helens parents have links to India so curries are very different to those you get in an Indian restaurant in the UK.
The other day we were asked to do an evening meal for a couple and the lady was a vegatarian. We did a typical French dish called tartifillette but instead of using lardons it can be done using mushrooms instead.
For me it is interesting trying different things and not following recipes precisely.
20 April, 2012 at 4:15 pm #493720Our local specialities are wine, wine, wine, cointreau, asparagus and apples.
We are in the third biggest wine producing area of France so lots of choice with red, white, rose. sweet and sparkling available.
Cointreau is produced just down the road in Angers.
White asparagus is currently in season and there are lots of fields of it round here.
Lastly the apple orchards round here supply Asda amongst others but there is nothing more tastier than a freshly scrumped apple rather than one that has been sat in a cold room for a few years before being exported

Coopers Oxford marmalade was always something special.

Looks like there were some changes here tonight… I get confused about who is banned..and if its permanent. Might it be an idea for admin to have a banned list and a reason for the banning… an example could be
19.04.12…..Chameleon…. Permanent ban for harassment.
19.04.12….. Fictitious …… 3 month ban for lude commentsNot only would it explain the disappearance of posters and if it was a permanent ban but it would also remind other posters of the consequence of their actions here.
Might be a rubbish idea… any thoughts?
Love seeing the word lude as we live near Le Lude which is a Chateau on the Loir River but guess you mean lewd
