I have been fortunate enough to live in some nice areas of England, the New Forest in Hampshire, south Devon, west Oxfordshire and a very nice village in Warwickshire. I also spent 10 years working in Maastricht in Holland and it was nice watching the Amstel Gold Cycling race the other weekend which is held there every year.
I spent many summer…[Read more]

Meal = £25 Tip = £2
Add the two together = £27
They paid £30 so £30 – £27 = £3
Therefore each gets £1 back
The £2 the waiter kept should be added to the £25 for the meal so the total cost of the meal was £27. The change is the other £3
It is not £27 + £2 but £27 + £3

During the time when half the world was painted red there were a lot of births in various parts of the Commonwealth where the people born were considered British
When those people or their descendants chose to move to the UK because of many and different circumstances that did not change their nationality
Everyone despite creed nor colour has…[Read more]

Don’t worry panda I don’t mind at all
Everyone is an individual with their own views and choices whatever their background origins or ideas and that forms their identity
I might not like that but I can accept their choice but I don’t have to agree with it

Interesting question
But it is a question on several levels
Firstly I am English and always will be
Secondly I am British as England is part of the UK
Lastly we choose to live in France because we enjoy the lifestyle here, but that does not make us French though we do try to avoid the British cliques in this area.
These days being…[Read more]

One of the nice things about cooking is that there are always several different recipes for the same thing and each is correct.
Many people have passed down recipes from family and friends that have each taken a different course over the generations.
My parents came from Yorkshire so things like Parkin and Yorkshire Pud are a given.

Cointreau is produced just down the road in Angers.
