dont worry yourself you lot im not at all bothered by what a sad little man thinks of me.
he can say what he likes but im proud of myself and so is my family and friends.
for your info DOA i will be going back to uni to do a post grad course next sept so furthering my job prospects.
even if i never used my degree at least i can say i have it. people knock single parent families but ive proved im not willing to sit on my bum and rot!

it took me 4 years coz i had some personal problems during my first year so they let me repeat my first year.
and to repeat myself i never went to a poly. and yes they do look at the uni you go to when applying for a job but believe it or not the uni i went to is actually pretty highly regarded. ok not as highly as newcastle or durham but then there psychology degree isnt as hands on as the one i did. theres no reason at all why i cant go on to do my masters or get a job!
as for taking advantage of everything offered no i didnt actually. i worked, i got a student loan and that was it. my family helped me look after the kids. oh yeah i got 10 pound rent reduction!
perhaps the work load has increased since you were at uni but yes we did 4 papers per term together with exams at the end of term and a 25 page dissertation in year 3.
as for not thinking psychology is a hard course then think again! if you havent done it you’d have no idea what it involves would you!
oh and i DO live in the real world and know how hard it is to get a job but at least i got of my arse and tried to do something about improving my prospects.
thanks DOA for your good wishes its much appreciated

From what I remember at university, many years ago………..,the only people who did “psychology” where people with personal issues (the nuts).

Saying that, when I was there, they made you wait until late September for your results.

But I did go to a real university and not an ex polytechnic.

I believe the days have where having a degree was enough to open doors into work, these days you need a 2.1 and above from a good university to get anywhere in life.

I’m just trying to work out what a 2.2 from a 3rd rate ex polytechnic is worth ageist a proper degree from Edinburgh or Lancaster………. Not a lot

I must say has one of the “old school” alumni I feel the courses have been “dumb down” over the last 20 years and polytechnics have not helped raised standards.

Then again, it’s just systematic of an education system that refuses to let people fail, (its simpler to just lower the past mark, improve the schools figures and everyone wins don’t they?)

But it’s nice to see that after being out of class 5 mins, she has learn the phase “no freebies”

    you cheeky s hit!!!
you have no idea what doing a psychology is about and i worked damn hard to get to where i am
i am a single mother and decided rather than sit on my arse id get up and do something so i could get a better job than working in tesco (nowt wrong with tesco but its not for me).
ok my uni is an ex poly but that was years ago and the uni is known for its high standards in the particular degree i did. ok so the entry level wasnt as high as, say, durham but i still had to meet certain grades! it is not a 3rd rate ex poly for your info. my 2:2 is just as valid as a 2:2 from anywhere.
for your info when applying for a masters they dont say ‘2:2 is required but only from ‘proper’ unis not ex polys’ they simply ask for a 2:2.
i did go to a proper uni and im proud of what ive achieved. 4 years of assignments, exams and lab work.
    so there [-X
