He was jailed for not paying (or refusing to continue paying) the fines imposed on him.

BUT if you do the math, it isn’t such a bad deal really. He had to pay a total of £10,136. Being given 6 months in jail actually means a time seved of around 3 months. When he comes out, he will have in essence settled his debt to society by virtue of serving his sentence.

£10,136 expunged in 3 months is the equivalent of £40,544 nett of income tax & NI which grosses up to somewhere around £50,000 gross (i.e. before Tax & NI)…… a pretty good income for a pub landlord.

Poet, the ‘word on the street’ is that Vista is a total complete and utter dog, launched in haste and regretted at leisure.

Windows 7 is by comparison vastly better. it has a few annoying little habits which take some getting used to, in that it treats its users as complete morons unable to know whether they should instal or delete a file etc. Maybe, on reflection, this is the right approach.

If you can get past the somewhat girly desktop, with the easy access toolbar at the top of the screen and the wishy washy ‘soothing’ pastel colour schemes, it appears on the face of it to be more stable and usable that Vista – but then anything would be more stable & usable that Vista.

I set up a computer the other day using Windows 7 Home Premium and my real annoyance was that the navigation to basic stuff (like Control Panel etc) was ‘intuitive’ (i.e. bloody hard to find what you were looking for). Also Outlook Express is no longer an integral (free) part of the Operating System, so you need to install a stand alone e-mail client or use Outlook – part of the Office suite.

I shall be sticking with Windows XP until the 22nd Century.

I read today that poor Ashley had the misfortune to have his mother-in-law living with him and Cheryl (in their NINE bedroomed mansion).

It is said that Cheryl & her mother would sit up late watching TV together whilst Ashley went to be by himself.

They must have made a right ‘Tweedy’ pair, sitting on the sofa and stuffing their faces – is it any wonder that Ashley looked for …..er…..companionship elsewhere???

I had a sneaky little suspicion, Ncb, that you might grace my post with a response.

But you know, there is a (slightly) serious underlying point here. When one listens to that awful woman berating the “emergency” police operator simply because she cannot get some sort of ‘satisfaction’ from a burger bar FFS, it conjures up the most terrible picture of an enormously fat female blubbering over a lukewarm greasy burger. She would make a grossly spoilt brat look good by comparison.

I wonder what she would do if – God forbid – she got a splinter in her finger….. call 911 again and demand a full paramedic response team???

Mine says “Female Forum” … maybe it’s the thought of all those women incessantly gossiping that’s sending you to sleep???
