31 October, 2008 at 6:15 pm #386058Oi..Langy me old mucker..Halloween celebrations might be new to you Englanders..but here in Scotland the practice of ‘Guising’ has been going on for time immemorial. Ruby and Shin have already written at length about it so go have a look; but in brief..Scottish kiddies dress up and troop round the houses to do a turn..sing a song or deliver a poem..at no point is there any retaliatory gubbins for lack of goodies. There are also games like dooking for apples..and lavishing with monkey nuts and tangerines and sweeties. The centrepiece is a cake..it used to be there were little trinkets inside but Health & Misery have put paid to them.
The trick or treat nonsense was an American distortion of the Celtic ways..repackaged and sent back over the atlantic to the gullible.
Not on my watch...Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh..and that is disgusting

Having been the instigator in the ending of all of my previous partnerships, I haven’t at any time had reason to seek revenge, and I think that people who do so are sad barstards to be honest..all of my exes continue to hold me in their affections, but as far as I’m concerned, regardless of the circumstances, when something is over..it’s over..time to move on.
With regard to revenge per se, my own passions and furies are instantly aroused but as swiftly banished; I either carry out the deed in the here and now, or the desire to do so suffocates as quickly as the muffled flames of my anger. This isn’t as the result of a forgiving nature so much as of a disinterested one.
The exception to my general rule, is where someone wrongs one my loved ones, but even then my response is of a terrifying and instant wrathfulness..not revenge but the apportioning of a rightful justice, the fury of all hell broken loose and married to the baleful blast of every flailing fallen angel. :twisted:Jeeze I have to concentrate sooo hard when I read some of your posts

The little girl she said to me
“What are these things that I can see
Each night when I come home from school
When mama calls me in for tea?”
Oh every night a baby dies
And every night a mama cries
What makes those me do what they do
To make that person black and blue
Grandpa says they’re happy now
They sit with God in paradise
With angel’s wings and still somehow
It makes me feel
Like Ice
Tell me there’s heaven
Tell me that it’s true
Tell me there’s a reason
Why I’m seeing what I do
Tell me there’s heaven
Where all those people go
Tell me that they’re happy now
Papa tell me that it’s so
So do I tell here that it’s true
That there’s place for me and you
Where hungry children smile and say
“We wouldn’t have no other way”
That every painful crack of bones
is a step along the way
Every wrong done is a game plan
To that great and joyful day
And I’m looking at the father and the son
And I’m looking at the
mother and the daughter
And I’m watching them in tears of pain
And I’m watching them suffer
Don’t tell that little girl
Tell me
Tell me there’s heaven
Tell me that it’s true
Tell me there’s a reason
Why I’m seeing what I do
Tell me there’s heaven
Where all those people go
Tell me that they’re happy now
Papa tell me that it’s so

30 October, 2008 at 9:06 pm #311993Water Lilies
by Sara TeasdaleIf you have forgotten water lilies floating
On a dark lake among mountains in the afternoon shade,
If you have forgotten their wet, sleepy fragrance,
Then you can return and not be afraid. But if you remember, then turn away forever
To the plains and the prairies where pools are far apart,
There you will not come at dusk on closing water lilies,
And the shadow of mountains will not fall on your heart.30 October, 2008 at 4:46 pm #385572@chickenman wrote:
