    I truly can’t choose a favourite..maybe I can narrow it down to..
    FOXTROT (Genesis)
LAND OF GREY AND PINK (Caravan)
    PRETZEL LOGIC (Steely Dan)

As a lover of all animals but the Hare in particular, I am particularly moved by Burns’ pithy vocabulary here. Tender and angry by turns, this says much about the gentle heart and equitable nature of the author..

    The Wounded Hare

Inhuman man! curse on thy barb’rous art,
    And blasted by thy murder-aiming eye;
May never pity soothe thee with a sigh,
Nor never pleasure glad thy cruel heart!

Go live, poor wanderer of the wood and field,
The bitter little of life that remains!
No more the thickening brakes and verdant plains
To thee shall home, or food, or pastime yield.

Seek, mangled wretch, some place of wonted rest,
No more of rest, but now of dying bed!
The sheltering rushes whistling o’er thy head,
The cold earth with thy bloody bosom Crest.

Oft as by winding Nith I, musing, wait
The sober eve, or hail the cheerful dawn,
I’ll miss thee sporting o’er the dewy lawn,
And curse the ruffian’s aim, and mourn thy hapless fate.

I agree – why Phil Collins decided that it would be a good idea for him to take over on vocals is beyond me. He’s not even a very good drummer – but at least when he’s playing you don’t have to listen to him sing!

Have you ever been to see Gabriel solo – he does an absolutely fantastic show, is a great showman, actually designs his own shows and does things like this:

    and THIS:

I saw this tour and it was quite possibly the best thing I ever saw….
….but then I didn’t ever get to see him perform with Genesis!

Yep..well I’ve been in the fortunate position of seeing Gabriel both with Genesis and solo. He and Steve Hackett were a stupendous loss to the band, for musicianship and Gabriel’s showmanship.
The ethereal and the surreal that MADE early Genesis, was replaced by more mainstream popiness when Collins took the reins.
Still churning out some good tunes..but at the expense of the original magic.

Foxtrot and Nursery Chryme are great albums as is Lamb -downhill then dont you reckon?

For me, Peter Gabriel WAS Genesis, so without him, the band never again attained the giddy heights of the likes of Foxtrot..the seminal Genesis offering.
That said..I loved Trick Of The Tail..but over the years have found it difficult to warm to Collins as frontman..he can never hope to emulate the style and class of Gabriel.
Rutherford and Banks carry the band now.
