I only popped in to put in a good word for brave wee Gretna and the wonderful Brookes Mileson, but I read your post Sharon and if it’s of any help…I was diagnosed with a grade three carcinoma three years ago..agressive and terminal..but I’m still here and just as annoying as ever. Best wishes to Paul, I know he’s going to win through.

I agree with you entirely Bassingbourne. This is yet another example of us paying twice for a service, not unlike the proposed polls on roads for which we already pay tax.
The subject of refuse-collection is a particular bugbear of mine. As I pay through the nose for the removal of rubbish via my council-tax, I fail to see why I should be expected to filter through my detritus to separate it into different categories for different bins [here in my part of the country we have green bins for certain household waste..blue bins for another.] This should be the responsibility of those PAID to do the job. I have a good friend who gave up teaching to drive a bin lorry. He isn’t allowed to take any extra bin-bags or bins with the “wrong” rubbish in ’em or any rubbish atall on days with a “Y” in ’em and the council is piling in the money and the streets are piling up the craap! :x :x :x
