Hey guys. I’m just bored at work right now and had nothing to do, so I started surfing the Net and found this place. How’s it going?
A few things about me:
1. I live in Toronto, Canada
2. I turn 25 on Sunday. It’s kind of freaking me out a bit because I had so much more that I wanted to do with my life by this point and I kind of feel like I havent done a lot of the things I wanted to do. But I’m still young enough to do lots of stuff.
3. As my alias here indicates, I love rock n roll. I guess if I were to list my top five favourite bands of all time, I would go with the Ramones, U2, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, and AC/DC.
Anyways, nice to meet you all.
Hi dudette, nice to make your aquaintance…………..don’t be a stranger y’all

What is wrong with my cursor??
It flashes at a million miles per hour then stops, then goes normal for a split second, then goes mental again flashing at a million miles per hour :evil:Even if im typing fast, and I look up to my monitor, the words I have typed arent on the screen for a split second as the cursor hasnt caught up! And I cant type mega fast either!
I think my PC is gonna die soon, theres so many things goin wrong with the bstard.
Hi Herman
Could be the pointer size and flash rate??
Try making the pointer smaller and/or change the cursor flash rate to medium, its all in the control panel/mouse/pointer options, go have a twiddle you know it’ll make you feel better
Also, do you have any options selected in the motion tab in the mouse properties? smart move and cursor trails might be causing this. Also, you could try disabling the pointer shadow and ‘checking’ the precision box.Druid

3 June, 2007 at 10:45 am #272392It appears that Windows Live Messenger is the culprit here
I read this and had to do a bit of research as this was a new one on me, I also had some SQM files on my ‘putor but hadn’t noticed them, I haven’t used WML since installing it, I ran option one it apparently worked
SQM files are associated with Windows Messenger Live. I believe them to be ‘logs’ of the chats sessions, but I could be wrong!
So here is what you can do, you have two options:
Option One
If you want to keep Windows Messenger Live,
Reboot your computer into ‘SAFE’ mode (hit F8 immediately after you turn the computer back on, nb; full shutdown please not a restart or windows will not boot into safe mode!) . Make sure you are logged in as the ‘Administrator’.
Go back to the directory where you found the SQM files and delete them, they should delete this time.
If you get an error message ignore it, thats MS complaining and restart in normal mode…Option numero duo
If you are unsuccessful in deleting the files in SAFE mode, you have to first uninstall Windows Messenger Live and then follow ‘Option One’ to delete the files.NB, if you reinstall WML, the SQM files will return
‘SQM’ stands for ‘Software Quality Manager’ – and they come from Microsoft, they are also used to report stuff back to MS nice…… !

I have a couple of forums on my favourites which all of a sudden I was getting that “page not found” message for. Thought perhaps the sites were down but after using a proxy server discovered they were working fine.
Anyway here lies the problem … if I browse the forum addresses I can’t find them, google them and it finds them but won’t access them, even tried just using the IP address still no good.
I’ve used AVG anti-spyware (found a couple of probs now sorted) and AVG virus software which found no threats.
I’ve switched off my firewall to see if that was the problem but still couldn’t access the sites.
I installed Firefox to check whether it was IE that was the problem … still no access.
I’ve been in and out of my internet tools checking whether the sites were blocked for whatever reason … can’t see anything amiss.
I can access this site and other forums without a problem so presume it’s nothing to do with a port being blocked.
Using a netgear router, this isn’t anything new though and not had problems before.
Anyway if you’ve managed to read that and not fall asleep any help appreciated.
Cheers.Hi Catz, not sure if this helps, but links can be corrupted by malware, so a thorough look at your system is the first step, Spybot or a.n.other eg Stinger etc should help, also run something like Adaware, malware can even mess up wireless hook up so worth being thorough here
Now the next stage is registry stuff, the one that gets messed up is here
‘HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTInternetShortcut’
This is the file that gets corrupt, but an easier way and without messing with the registry is to get someone to email the links to you, then see if they open, if they do try shortcutting them to your fav folder and overwrite the old link (or simply delete all the non working links first)
Let us know what happens
