Nice one Fizz, if I may add just an additional comment…

Before installing a USB card check the wattage of your PSU (power supply unit) and discuss with the supplier of the USB card your intentions, PC’s these days are getting more reliant on USB’s (silver/black flat connector instead of PS2 connectors DELL pc’s are re-known for this ) PS2’s are the little green and lilac female plugs at the back for keyboards and mice, if you have a printer/cam/a.n.other device attached ( that’ll bring some comments I bet ) via a USB you are getting close to sucking all the power from the USB BUS (BUS is the circuit that the USB’s use) eventually you’ll plug in something like a USB stick or even try printing something and your PC will lock up (to prove this, and if it already happens to you turn off the PC, unplug the USB’s (but NOT the mouse & keyboard!) turn on the PC and plug them back in one at a time untill the system lock occurs) USB’s have been fully ‘hot swappable’ since W2000 so no need to turn off the PC when plugging them all back in.
So, check your PSU wattage and system capabilities, also ( and I had to Google this) most machines prior to 1996 do not support USB!

    Have fun

Good tip Fizz, I try to avoid driver install error by keeping this box checked, not all drivers have passed the microsoft ‘genuine driver’ test and this will warn users if they are worried about this happening, alternatively you can check the block option, graphics drivers are the worse ones if they go wrong.
If you are worried however about messing with drivers after a bad install/uninstall a system restore in XP or Vista will take care of this, if you have WY2K re-booting to LKGC (last known good configuration)using the install disc is the other option

    Happy Days!

Its here for those that wish to take a sneak at it

    Hi :D

What are your views on the new Microsoft Operating System Vista in a Technical context ?

My self i will wait until Vista SP 1 as bugs may arise as with XP then conceder it, Fizz :D

I ran RC1 and crashed it after 20 mins, but hey it was RC1, I then went over to RC2, I had all the basic requirements in my AMD

As for waiting for SP1 that sounds sensible, I did the same with XP, you’ll find some interesting comments at

I must admit though the ‘sexy’ new desktop looks cool and the graphics should be bug free by the time I build my ‘entrainment’ system, what’s putting me off though is the cost, tut at you MS
Oh, I came across a hacked version, they’ve done it already…………..of all places, ’emule’
