White people come here who don’t speak English well either. I remember when I was in school there were a few Iberian kids who barely spoke any English. It wasn’t a problem for us though because it was a Christian school and it didn’t suffer from the sort of ignorant prejudices that exist among adults in our society.
Drivel doesn’t realize that it takes time to master a new language. He’s probably one of those people who would struggle to order a cup of tea if he went abroad yet he gets all high and mighty about people coming here who aren’t fluent in English.
Don’t judge me Bigstuff – I am not excluding any colours – I never mentioned colours – I said all people coming to live here shoudl learn the language
How the hell can we teach people of they cant speak ENGLISH ffs
As for mastering languages Bigmouth – I can speak both French and Russian as well as my native English – you try learning Russian sometime
My remarks are not racist at all – the only racism is coming from the likes of Tiler – who seems to depise this country and it’s Government – yet is quite happy to take all the handouts too !!You speak 3 languages? Yeah right, I’ll believe it when I see it. Secondly, people can be taught if they don’t speak English well. The best way to improve your language skills is to immerse yourself in the country of the language that you’re learning. So if someone wants to learn English the best thing they could do is travel to England.
The best way to learn a language is to speak it , all the time amongst others speaking that language – …………..
So what the ferg are these lot doing speaking a foreign language in an English language class !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you’d like to have a system like Israel where you can be rounded up by the military and held for years and years without ever being charged or convicted of any offence? The bottom line is that the ordinary citizen needs to be protected from mistakes and from abuse of power. Once the government takes power from people they rarely give it back. It is possible to preserve our basic civil rights and fight terrorism at the same time. The two things aren’t mutually exclusive. We don’t have to turn into some kind of fascist state to preserve our security.

No you don’t – but you have to fight fire with fire – if torturing a few terrorists saves the lives of a few thousand innocent people then I have nothing against it
Terrorists give up all of their human rights as far as I am concerned
So do muggers , rapists paedos etc – torture the bloody lot of then2 November, 2006 at 11:56 am #247041@sharongooner wrote:
We have all decided in our house that Drogba NEEDS to lie down every now and then… dont know exactly what it is but it is a repetative condition.
Well, I cant say much tonight, we had 2934 attempts at goal 2930 of them were on target and it still ended nil nil…..
whats the point?
On another night Ar senal could have been into double figures !!! That’s the beauty about football Shaz , it’s rarely fair !

Yes Drivel it’s rare for innocent people to be brought in for questioning during an investigation, so there’s no harm in torturing them. Michael Howard was asked to answer some questions by the police recently therefore he must be guilty of something isn’t that right Drivel? Some people say that innocent people occasionally end up in prison or on death row. Of course this is an absurd allegation made up by tree-hugging hippies who are soft on crime and want to appease criminals.
Yes, the UK and USA have infallible systems of justice where no mistakes are ever made. We might as well do away with the judiciary because who needs courts when nobody ever abuses their power or makes mistakes. Trials are just an invention of soppy liberals with their bleeding-heart human-rights agenda. We need summary executions and death squads to keep Britain safe from the terrorists. If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to be afraid of.
There’s nothing wrong with a trial , of course mistakes are made , of course any system is fallible
But I still don’t have any problem with holding suspected terrorists indefinitely if it is in the interests of our national safety
I’d still rather have our system than the summary execution system of the terrorists
What is it with you human rights guys – you want it both ways – sorry you can’t have it both ways2 November, 2006 at 11:41 am #247215IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE ANYTHING WRONG , YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT , BLAH BLAH BLAH
I’m happy to oblige BM

Yes Drivel, it couldn’t possibly happen to you could it? Everyone who is ever taken in for questioning over a crime is a criminal aren’t they? It’s rare for officials and bureaucrats to make mistakes isn’t it? Everyone accused of being a communist during the McCarthy era was a communist weren’t they? Yes Drivel, it couldn’t possibly happen to you because the world is black and white and nobody ever makes mistakes or abuses their power.
Remember the notorious 82 yr old terrorist Walter Wolfgang who heckled Jack Straw and was thrown out of the auditorium? The police prevented his re-entry into the conference building under “anti-terrorism” legislation. There are also those evil terrorists who protest against arms sales to foreign dictators and get arrested under “anti-terrorism” laws. No, the state would never abuse its power Drivel so let’s give them all the power they want without limitation or over-sight. Big Brother will take care of us.
Yes it is RARE , hence you repeat your examples time after time
And someone has to take care of us – you help vote the Government in

rossi is the reason why fergie has’nt gone and bought a 10 million + striker.. i think him and rooney, very soon could bolst the best front partnership in the prem
agree with martins though, he was never going to have a great first season, the english game is a lot hardle to settle into then any other league
Rossi is not a bad player – I never said he was – he is nowhere near “awesome” yet – although he has a lot more chance of doing so than Martins
He isn’t particularly fast and he needs buiding up – he is too easily pushed off the ball
He was probabaly one of Newcastles best players at the weekend but that doesn’t say much
As for Ferguson praising him – he wouldn’t be a good manager if he didn’t – but remember over the last few seasons he’s got it wrong as many times as he has got it right
Man U have bought some rubbish over the last few years – and the kids coming throught their youth teams are nowhere near the Arsenal youth
Arsenal played Man u off the park at Old trafford – on their day they are by far the best footballing team in the country , if not europe too
I have always liked Man U – but that’s from the days when they had real superstars – have alook at some clips of Denis Law , George Best , Willie Morgan , Bobby Charlton , Pat Crerand , before you start calling some of todays pretenders “awesome”31 October, 2006 at 10:26 am #243604@Bad Manners wrote:

Drivel, you’re an absolute idiot. What’s happening now is worse than Watergate and is a modern equivalent of McCarthyism. What sort of moron would support the government torturing people? Answer me this, what would you say if it happened to you? What would you say if the authorities turned up without a warrant and tore apart your house and your belongings in a search? What would you say if you found out that they had put a tap on your phone and a keylogger on your computer all without court approval? What if they decided they had to torture your wife and kids because you didn’t give them the answers they wanted? If you don’t stand up for your rights then you can kiss them all goodbye.
Effectively, the terrorists are winning if some people are so petrified that they surrender their freedom to the government. If we allow the government to manipulate the public and perpetuate a climate of fear for their own ends and if we allow them to create an a quasi-fascist state then we will inevitably destroy our values, change our society for the worse and hand the terrorists a victory over us. It’s an act of cowardice to give up your values in the face of a threat. Hysterically lashing out at the muslims/arabs in our society only breeds dischord and aids the cause of our enemies. It takes more courage to stand by your principles in the face of danger than to panic and give everything up. So while Drivel and American Woman might be waving their white flags in the hope that Tony and George will protect them from the big bad terrorists, the rest of us will face the threat with more dignity and will not compromise the values of our free society just because we’re in danger.
Im in total agreement.
I’ll tell you something Bigmouth – it WONT happen to me , it wont happen to ANYONE I know
WHY – because we are not terrorists , we do not associate with any terrorists or criminals
Everything is above board
The rare instances you quote – are exactly that – RAREAnd the only way that terrorists are winning – is because of Cowards and idiots like yourselves dissing the Americans and our Government for making a stand
Of course America blew up the twin towers so i tcould carry on its war against terrorism , of course thousands of innocent people are dragged out of their beds at night , tortured and never seen again , of course Santa Claus is real , and Elvis and Hendrix are still aliveOf course you are all idiots – that one’s true !!!

That was Rossi who hit the bar, wasn’t it?
Yes that was Rossi – hit the bar from 2 yards out !!!!!!!!1
FFS he’s another one of Robbo’s “awesome” players
Where was Robbo’s favourite – Martins – we ask – injured again – what a total waste of 10 million – there again the toon are noted for wasting money
Look at Marcelino – 4 years with Newcastle – was out of action for over 3 of those with a sore finger
Then there was Kluivert , Robert , Luque – the lists endlessThe toon and their thick supporters deserve relegation this season

Another point that dawned on me is that if you torture 100 people, you might get information from 1 guilty person but you will be left with 99 disgruntled. innocent people who will pass on their anger to all their friends and relatives. That scenario is most dangerous in places like Iraq and Afghanistan where winning hearts and minds should have been a priority. Alienating the locals can have fatal consequences.
Bush was saying again yesterday that the war in Iraq was vital to stop the terrorists attacking America. The man has no shame. He’s a lying sack of sh1t. It’s bad enough that a few thousand US soldiers died in his needless war and that he totally screwed up the post-war strategy, but to continue to propagate the bare-faced lie that support for the war and the government was and still is necessary to prevent America being attacked is utterly obscene. Why more Americans don’t seem to realize this is beyond me.
And a bit OTT from you too there Mr Big – you are just one big cliche
You quote McCarthy , Watergate etcHow many similar things happen every day in these terrorist countries that you support
Of course America has every right to defend itself in whichever way it wants – of that means torturing suspects then so be it
It’s human nature – people fight – tribes fight – there wil never ever be a totally peaceful world , but I know who’s side I’d rather be on -
