Whichever president gets in will NOT affect me.. won’t make me rich or poor, won’t produce potholes in the roads, and won’t bring down the NHS

If Clinton gets in and is actually stupid enough to start a war with Russia, you think it won’t affect you?

We are now the 6th richest nation in the world – France overtook us last week.

And we are now the 3rd largest economy in the EU.

Britain and France have been switching 5th / 6th places for a few years now, it’s not really useful as an indication of anything. Our ecconomy is still growing faster than France’s, and will overtake them again in the near future, especially if the pound recovers some of it’s value.

All those policies are endorsed by the Republican Establishment (though I’m not sure what one-directional tariffs are, or which ones he’s taking aim at).

His appeal is against the Establishment, though. You deconstruct too literally, and as a result you can (not always) catch the letter while missing the spirit.

Specific policies are less important than an image with Trump. He is the Mussolini character – the strong man who can get things done.

He does look to be in real trouble now – he’s always been an obscenity waiting to happen. he’s recovered from damned awful things before, but it will be fascinating to see how and if Benito Trump can get out of this one.

Trump has said the same thing about tarifs since the 70’s as far as I know. The example he usually gives (don’t know how accurate it is) is that US imports from Mexico are tarif free, but exports have a tarif imposed by Mexico. I would say at least thic specific policy is important to him, given how long he has been saying it.

I’m not sure that his in that much trouble just now, the debate might change that however. He has to give a very strong performance in that to have a chance of winning the election.

Clinton has recovered from much worse things (Lying to the FBI about classified emails, covering up rape claims against Bill, ect.).

    er, yes, Reason….

drac, I’m not sure what Trump’s policies actually are. He shoots his mouth off a lot, but then withdraws what he says.

The guy reminds me of Mussolini – jaw thrust forward, hands gesticulating. Like Musso, he’s presenting himself as the strong man, the guy who can get things done, no-nonsense, the anti-elitist millionaire who’ll make everyone else millionaires too cos he’s smart enough not to pay tax, the guy who’ll make his country great again and get the trains to run on time.

He is consistant on a few policy issues:
    1) He wants to renegotiate trade deals so that there are no one-directional tarifs.
    2) He wants to repeal obamacare, and allow insurance providers to compete across state borders.
    3) Reduce illegal immigration into the country.

There might be some other policies he has too, but i’m not too sure.

Drac, you can’t defend Trump by saying that he doesn’t offend you personally, or that the N-word doesn’t offend you pesonally. His attitudes and politics are deeply offensive to millions, not just Americans.

I’m not defending him, I don’t even like the guy lol. I just deconstruct faulty arguments that are made against him. And the N word isn’t going to be offensive to me, i’m white (mostly).

You also can’t defend him by pointing to the Clintons. They are neither of them very nice candidates. But Clinton is not a Mussolini strongman who will build walls tos top Mexicans coming in, etc, she’s not threatening to pull trade treaties apart or withdraw defence from international organisations, throwing the world economy much greater chaos than we’ve been seeing recently.

I really dislike Clinton, but she’s better than the obscene man who is her opponent.

I still think that Trump is the better candidate, Clintojn has been found guilty of actual crimes, unlike Trump. She also seems to want to start a war with Russia which is worrying, either over her email leak, or Syria.

For anyone curious, google “previous allegations against Trump”. His history appears to be extremely similar to recent events here in the UK and his enormous wealth, has up to now, protected him from further forensic examination into his past.

Men like Saville was also protected by the establishment and the threat of legal action also stifled the ‘rumours’ against him when they first emerged in the 80’s.

Trumps ex wife accused him of physical and sexual violence, other unrelated accusations have been dismissed on the grounds of a “lack of evidence”.

Trump himself is finished in this race, but this saga is far from over. This Sundays Presidential debate is going to be ‘car crash’ TV, I wouldn’t usually bother with it, but can’t wait for this one.

Clinton’s husband as been accused sexual violence, despite her campaign saying that rape victims should always be believed, she dismisses all of the claims made against Bill, she also accepts donations through the Clinton Foundation from Saudi princes, who certainly don’t value women’s rights. She has been found guility of lying to the FBI on multiple occasions but was dismissed on the grounds of a “forgetting proper protocol for classified documents due to hitting her head”.

You can’t debate sensibly with the likes of those you mention, they flippantly dismiss the conservative Huff Post as left wing and then produce random polls, with a tiny samples of 1,000, as irrefutable evidence. Or they pepper their posts with provocative language intended to attack other posters. That’s why I don’t bother.

I didn’t ‘flippantly dismiss’ Huffington Post, I responded to each of the points they made in the article that was presented. I’m not sure what poll you are talking about, I never referenced one. And I have never attacked anyone on here.

In the UK, if a male politician suggested they “walk up to ‘attractive’ women and “grab them by the pussy” because they can “do anything you like” and that they also “just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss, I don’t even wait … and when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.” then their political career would be over and police charges filed if any victims then came forward.

Charges on what ground? Nothing he said is illegal, and shouldn’t be. How do you know that no male politician has said things like this, what Trump said was in private and was not meant for the public.

What about if a female politician said something about “Grabing a man by the dick”? The way you worded your response makes it seem like this would be okay.

It doesn’t surprise me in the least that the sexist, misogynist Trump made those comments and holds those vile views about women, but it does surprise me there is no mechanism in place to remove him from the US Presidency race on grounds of suitability.

Trump isn’t a misogynist, that would mean that he hates women, everything he says makes him sound as if he likes them quite a lot.

Trump who lied that he built his business empire from a $1 million loan from his father, has a history of lies and fabrication, covering up his previous behavior, both private and public. A man who avoided federal income tax for 18 years because he strategically placed his casino empire in bankruptcy over $900 million debt.

How did he build his business empire then? And the leaked tax returns don’t show how much taxes he has paid, only that he didn’t pay them during one year. This is because devaluation of property seems to count as a loss in US tax law, it’s not tax evasion if it is legal to do so.

She was on TV earlier this week and the presenter was asking about her shoes. They also asked her about her grandmother’s scone recipe….

The day she took residence in Downing Street, they commented on the shoes she was wearing as she made her speech outside No 10.

I’m not sure which channels you people watch, lol.
