I don’t think Trump will use twitter much, he invested a lot of money in Truth Social, and may have some kind of exclusivity contract with it.

You caught me by surprise, Drac. I would never want unarmed police. We don’t have them unless they’re metermaids writing parking tickets. Unarmed police mean criminals can be in charge if all they do is bring a gun with them.

I’m much more likely to be harmed by a police officer than a criminal.

No police in this country are unarmed though, they all carry tasers, which are much more dangerous than most people seem to think they are.

“One of the reasons I moved out of Manchester was because there were armed police patrolling everywhere.”

That seriously is the stupidest thing you ever wrote. Debating retards is a waste of my time. It’s like trying to play chess with a houseplant. There is no point for me to participate in this thread any longer.

The nature of the police is also a significant difference between the US and the UK, although with the refusal of the police to intervene in some of the recent school shootings clearly shows that they don’t exist to protect people.

I have always been deeply distrustful of the police, i’m not sure how this is a surprise to you

Well hello drac, I was wondering when you were gonna stick your cute little nose into this debate and try to debunk everything I’ve said. Before you make anymore boo boos, I suggest you read

Plymouth shooting: Who can own a firearm or shotgun in the UK? – BBC News

Nothing in the article you linked contradicts anything I said

Yes, there are background checks, but you also need those in the US to buy a gun.

Its not very much harder to get one, the difference is cultural not legal.

..and I refer you back to the big picture that the UK has a tiny fraction of the gun ownership per head than the USA and consequently it has a tiny fraction of the gun violence per head than our cousins across the pond. The UK does not have a gun culture as does the USA and gun ownership isn’t promoted anywhere near as much as it is in the US.

The main argument being made in this thread is that crime rates in the UK are lower because of ‘gun control’. But as I said its not that hard to get a gun in the UK, so this argument doesn’t make sense.

Our community police perform their job by consent, not with guns.

One of the reasons I moved out of Manchester was because there were armed police patrolling everywhere .

(I think this photo is from Leicester, but this is a very common sight in Manchester too)

Tell me drac, are you compelled to rush out and buy an AR15 and convert it for your protection? I’d like to see that…

Try concentrating on the main facts of the case, not tiny little distracting details. You don’t wanna be like fishy do you ?

    Modify it into what?

An AR-15 is already a semi-automatic ‘assault’ rifle.

And yes, I know class 2 licences only cover shotguns, but it takes about 5 seconds to modify a breach loading shotgun into a rifle.

Doing that is probably illegal, but so is shooting people.
So I dont think that’s the problem.

Gun ownership is legal in the UK.

Not only is it legal, it is a right.

You can get AR-15’s in the UK.

Therefore, to claim that gun violence in the UK is lower because of ‘gun control’ is nonsense.

Anyone who wants a gun can fairly easily obtain one, not sure where the ‘control’ is.

Even ignoring the bill of rights, class 2 firearm licences are shall issue, which means they cannot legally be refused and must be given to anyone who asks for one.

The last year of his term turned out to be a complete disaster, so I hope he doesnt run again.
