This, and something else, caused me to look back through some of the other topics in this forum.
Some good times, good people, some of doubtful sanity, and some who were just plain morons.
Actually made me remember, and smile – a bit – I think i need a new face now….Good news Lucy – who’s the lucky fella?

I’d never heard of ‘ransomware’ so thanks.
Most files, and music I can do without, but it’s the 10 years worth of photo’s that I have stored that can never be replaced. These are memories and very precious.
Fortunately I have these backed up on another computer and a memory stick.
Cyber crime is a worry, everything these days is internet-based. Even at work a network problem brings me to a complete halt. And there is a lot to be said for keeping banking details off the internet. But in this day and age how realistic is that?Well I had no idea poetry was such a science.
Justchat is always such an education….Good effort Mell. It’s a shame the ‘simple poetry’ fell foul of the intelligentsia. But then, I think anything would!
I’m surprised anyone gets banned from forum 2. Surely it needs all the people it can get……
Perhaps forum 2 could be the official meeting place of clones, scrollers and fake chatguides?
To be honest if you are concerned about bullying it isn’t the greatest idea to put your life-story out there for all to see – might as well send a crate of ammunition to your greatest foe.
If it were a book I think i’d skip to the epilogue.
I can sympathize with some of what you say here Martin. I’d say pretty much everyone who has spent any time in chat would have got to like someone who has then abruptly vanished. You can’t help but think that, to them, you was just ‘words on a screen’ and infinitely disposable. Anybody who says otherwise either has a skin of concrete or is hiding behind a shield of bravado.
For those who say ‘it’s only online’, well, you are just as likely to become fond of someone online as you are in real life.
Anyway
There is no point in drifting from chatroom to chatroom, message board to message board, trying to find some blissful utopia. As was pointed out – that isn’t going to happen.

The ‘caring society’ idea does not blend well with the ‘take and exploit’ mentality we seem to see these days. The welfare state in theory is the caring society, has it worked? Or do people exploit it?
Anyway, life itself is very much a gift. It is not so much ‘what we make it’, it’s more a case of making the best hand out of the cards that we are dealt. And some people are dealt a truly **** hand!
