Yes that’s the first thing I would do……..
Right after we started using discount brand tea bags in the tea room.
When I think back to the last recession, didn’t most of them “business consultants” fail?
This reminds me of that old joke about the “consultant, the shepherd and the dog”

Well don’t think you should have bid on that.
Why not shop around on the web for one first?
You’re looking for a cheap kind of CREATIVE Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB 2.0 Sound Card with a remote control.
Prices start at £15, the one above is round £50

Will try and find you a cheaper one, but this does mean replacing the sound card on the laptop. You don’t need to removed, but it does seem a bit funny to replace the sound card on a new laptop. -

Well I have logitech Squeezebox Wireless Speaker System at home, but its not cheap at £250. (It was a freebie, I would never have paid that for a set of pc speakers.)The best one is Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System from Logitech, but again its not cheap.
You need to think about how much you are going to spend and what you’re going to u…[Read more]

Well on the new laptops, the sound card has been cut back. Theirs a line out for head phones and one in for a mic. On my desktop sound card there are 5 lines out, and one is marked for “sub woofer”. Not that its been used, I’ve found usb speakers far better than my old ones.

Its the sound card on the laptop. The speaker set you have just brought is for a desk top computer.
Take them back and get a usb set.

dead_on_arrvial replied to the topic rising energy costs in the board Getting serious 16 years, 7 months ago
There are many reasons I don’t like British Gas, but I think the main one is, they are always first to put there prices up.
I would never use them.
Dishwashers……..Its one of those energy tests we give the trainees to do.
We give them 4 old dishwashers to install and then calculate the running costs verse washing by hand. Its always a…[Read more]

Cath you need to use one of the comparison sites to get the best deal.
And use a few of them to make sure you are get the best deal. Don’t sign up to day, print off their offers and sleep on it.
Make sure you know what your signing up for. READ THE SMALL PRINT !!!!

Hmmm…….
Are we talking about the same people who send you a letter when your 1p over drawn and then charge you £30 for it?
The same people who refused bank accounts for 30% of the UK?
Those nice people who give you 2% interest on your current account then lend it out to others using credit cards at 27% ?

We did about 7.5k of work for them and they only paid about £1800 for the work.
The grant cover most of it.
Its all down to you and how much you are willing to look around. There are grants not only from your local councils, but from the EEC and other sources for “green” home heating and hot water.

Ok your argument is that if it don’t make money, shut it down?
So where would you like to start? The police?
I can’t remember the last time the police made any cash for the government, but I could be wrong.
The point you seem to be missing is:
What public service do the banks perform? How can you justify making every man women and child…[Read more]

Yesssssssssssss………….
But that’s only “warm front” and I think its a bit of a waste of time and money. Its only like for like replacements. There are other programs around you know !!!!!
We fitted a ground pump, under floor heating and other stuff for someone outside Crawley in March and they got a 75% grant for the work.
I don’t think…[Read more]

Right had a look round and you are paying about £150 per year more than you need too.
On my housing heating chart, (even with the gas price increase) your paying 30% too much.
Look for a duel flue supplier (gas and electric) for the best deal.

Cath lose British Gas now.
Get a reading, pay your bill up to date and stop using them.

Well “pete”, I can tell you how to cut your home heating costs down to about £20 per month.
I can tell you how to find grants to pay for it.
But I can’t be bovver !!!!!
