2 July, 2015 at 4:47 pm #526420Would it be possible to keep the arguments to one thread rather than spreading them over several?
Ta luvvies :D .
2 July, 2015 at 4:26 pm #526079Well I’ve had a chat to my local Firearms Enquiry Officer, and you don’t need always need a medical to obtain a firearms certificate. However, when you apply for one, or renew your licence, a letter will go to your doctor to ask if there’s any reason you shouldn’t have one, and there are lots of reasons people are refused.
For example – if you’ve been diagnosed with a possibly fatal disease (eg cancer) your doctor will be asked to comment on the state of your mental health.
There was also a question on whether a woman who had been raped should be granted a licence. Ultimately she was, but because she was shooting as part of the England shooting squad. Had she not been, she may well have been refused.
Can’t really remember what else he told me….

I am indeed female, though often mistaken for male. Maybe it’s the cut of my jib :-k
Sorry bemused, my apologies, I will now flog myself 50 times in a darkened room whilst playing Deacon Blue songs.
Can you film it for me? I love a bit of self flagellation.

30 June, 2015 at 3:57 pm #526069Are people required to have a medical before a firearms certificate is issued? I don’t know for certain, but I’m not sure they are.
As for mental illness, I think that when you apply for a licence or a renewal, you’re just asked a series of questions, one of which is mental health problems within the family. I suppose it’s up to the individual how honest they are.
As Lady Kenty (OBE) rightly points out, mental illness can come along and take a grip very quickly.
I’m not a lover of guns I have to admit. No different from knives, if they’re about your person and trouble strikes, the chances are you’ll use it before you have time to think of the consequences.

Reminds me of rescuing a black brick in a council swimming pool while wearing my pyjamas and then swimming a width under water! I was so happy!
Hmmm…not sure ‘happy’ is an adjective often used or required here.
