What both of you say is right, lucy locket and irish lucy.
But as a free chatroom it is also a very clique chatroom too. Now while i only chat in main these days, i use it more when im bored, or lucy locket it in, it can be really hard sometimes to get people to acknowledge you, and when you do, sometimes it feels like an interrogation.
And Lucylocket, you dont understand the fake personas, to a lot of people chatting is an escape, and you said it yourself, you DON’T know what is going on behind closed doors, and lets face it, not everyone in there is looking to make life long friends, they just want an escape from whatever it is that makes their life miserable, so they invent the person they would like to be. Even myself, while i am one of those pesky name hiders as you call them, and believe me, ive had more than a few names over the last 5 years or so, ive never done it to play games. In fact if you asked me, id tell you. But that was MY right to do so not someone else who took offense to the fact they had never seen my name in chat before. GOD FORBID! And im not talking about you there Lucy, you asked me in pm and i was honest with you.
At the end of the day, it is a chat room, it is meant to be an escape and a bit of fun. And yes the ignore button is there for you to use for those who choose to use it as a way to bully and insult others, oh and also for those who want to get their rocks off with a complete stranger. Never seen the appeal but each to their own.
I guess so Eva, and yeah she was questioned by another chatter, i say questioned, i mean interrogated and they wanted her to produce her PASSPORT just to prove that she was who she said she was, i mean her passport? WTF???
While i liked most of the people in there, i am not, will never be nor want to be in the “incrowd” if that means bullying people because you dont like their chat name or they arent giving out every minute detail of their life
It may just be words on a screen but words do have the power to hurt. I know that sometimes a lot of the problem is that with those words you cant put the inflection into them
that you would if you were actually speaking, irony and sarcasm don’t come across on type and sometimes, words can appear snippy even if they weren’t meant to be.I am not sure how i feel about chat anymore or the people who use it. When a certain person decided to try and use the fact i had pm’d them as a way of causing damage, it worked. Despite the fact i actually put in the main room the content of all the pm’s, people still believed the lies told and some of these people were meant to be my friends.
I think its fine that everyone is talking about how no one knows what is really going on in the lives of those we chat with and how we shouldn’t judge, we all do it, some worse than others. There are people in that chatroom who won’t give you the time of day unless you spill absolutly everything about your private life and apprantly even a “private” message is no longer allowed to be private. Lets just be honest, you are judged by your name, if it is a name no one knows you are automatically a “namehider” but arent most of us hiding our name? I certainly wasnt christened barbie, and it is my choice whether i tell you my real name or not and tbh, even though i deleted the majority of my msn list, i didnt even put my real name up there either (shock horror! Let the judging commence!). You are also judged by those you talk to, if the “cool”crowd dont talk to you, lets face it, you are screwed. And OMG! if you talk to the “wrong” people its chat suicide.
Everyone judges in chat, to the point some people have felt forced out of the chatroom because god forbid, they wanted to keep something private because it DOES say at the bottom of the screen NOT to give out personal info, i think that includes my name.
One last thing, it is a free chatroom, you do not pay for your name, WHY is it such a bad thing if somone gets fed up with a name and has a change? And why did Minxy get such a hard time for changing her name about a week after starting to use chat but Cowgirl went through a phase of changing her name every minute but no one said a thing?
I think i missed it too, when did this happen?
