According to the news, it seems as though the Greeks have had an identical situation to the one we narrowly escaped from in southern Italy.
I gather that some 40 people have been burnt to death in uncontrolled fires that have swept across the mainland. The thinly inhabited and uncultivated area seems to be exactly the same as for Italy.
Lots of the deaths were caused by people being trapped in their cars on the narrow winding hillside roads / tracks and burnt alive. It’s a pretty horrible way to go.
